1. If you want to leave footprints on the sands of time, you must know how to live, suffer, and die for your convictions. In one word, you should be fearless till death for vindication of truth. All great and good men, whom the mass of humanity worship now, were fearless. They did not hand down fear to succeeding generations.
2. Jesus Christ was fearless, having a strong 1 will power. The executors have been forgotten; the executed is still hailed and praised in songs after a thousand years. Gandhiji was fearless. He instilled the need of fearlessness in the minds of young and old.
3. Menially dwarfed spiritually and intellectually empty men have lived and died like ants. Nobody notices them. But people who stand for a cause and are fearless in the midst of bullets and tortures are the salt of the earth. They always conquer. It is only when a man is willing to suffer and dies for a cause that he will live eternally in the minds of men. Those who do not know how to live will die unwept, unsung and unhonoured. They come and go away without being noticed by others. Fearless, however is not stoning the houses, burning the trains, looting the banks or killing the common man.
4. Instill in everybody the seeds of courage, ambition, and determination and then, with Tagore they will sing "where the mind is 14 without fear and the head is held high....."
5. Fear is the root of all evils. Change the mental attitude and life becomes pleasant.

निर्देश : निम्नलिखितं गद्यांश पठित्वा प्रश्नानां यथोचितं विकल्पं चित्वा उत्तराणि देयानि ।
तदत्रास्ति विष्णुशर्मा नाम ब्राह्मणः सकलशास्त्रपारङ्गमश्छात्रसंसदिलब्धकीर्तिः तस्मै समर्पयतु एतान् । स नूनं द्राक् प्रबुद्धान् करिष्यति" इति । स राजा तदाकर्ण्य विष्णुशर्माणमाहूय प्रोवाच - "भो भगवान्। मदनुग्रहार्थमेतान् अर्थशास्त्रं प्रति द्राग्यथा अनन्यसदृशान् विदधासि तथा कुरु । तदा अहं त्वां शासनशतेन योजयिष्यामि " । अथ विष्णुशर्मा तं राजानमूचे - "देव ! श्रूयतां मे तथ्यवचनम्। नाहं विद्याविक्रयं शासनशतेनापि करोमि । पुनरेतांस्तव पुत्रान् मासषट्केन यदि नीतिशास्त्रज्ञान् न करोमि ततः स्वनामत्यागं करोमि । किं बहुना, श्रूयतां ममैष सिंहनादः नाहमर्थनिप्सुर्ब्रवीमि । ममाशीतिवर्षस्य व्यावृत्तसवेंन्द्रियार्थस्य न किञ्चदर्थेन प्रयोजनं किन्तु त्वत्प्रार्थनासिद्धयर्थं सरस्वतीविनोदं करिष्यामि । तल्लिख्यतामद्यतनो दिवसः यदि अहं षण्मासाभ्यन्तरे तव पुत्रान् नयशास्त्रं प्रति अनन्यसदृशान् न करिष्यामि ततो नार्हति देवो देवमार्गं सन्दर्शयितुम्" । अथासौ राजा तां ब्राह्मणस्यासंभव्यां प्रतिज्ञां श्रुत्वा ससचिवः प्रहष्टो विस्मयान्वितः तस्मै सादरं तान् कुमारान् समर्प्य परां निर्वृतिमाजगाम । विष्णुशर्मणापि तानादाय तदर्थं मित्रभेद- मित्रप्राप्ति - काकोलुकीय - लब्धप्रणाश-
अपरीक्षितकारकाणि चेति पञ्च तन्त्राणि रचयित्वा पाठितास्ते राजपुत्राः । तेऽपि तानि अधीत्य मासषट्केन यथोक्ताः संवृत्ताः । ततः प्रभृति एतत्पञ्चतन्त्रकं नाम नीतिशास्त्रं बालावबोधनार्थं भूतले प्रवृत्तम्।
