She took me into the station dining-room, ordered tea and samosas and jalebies, and at once I began to thaw and take a new interest in this kind woman. The strange encounter had little effect on my appetite. I was a hungry school boy and I ate as much as I could in as polite a manner as possible. लौहपुरुषः सरदारवल्लभभाईपटेलः जन्मतः कृषकः आसीत् । तस्य जन्म 1875 तमे ख्रीष्टाब्दे गुर्जरप्रदेशे अभवत् । तस्य पिता 1857 वर्षस्य प्रथमस्वतन्त्रतायुद्धे सहभागी आसीत् । यद्यपि अयं महापुरुषः आङ्ग्लदेशात् विधिपरीक्षायां प्रथमश्रेण्यां प्रथमं स्थानं लब्ध्वा अधिवक्ता जातः, तथापि सः स्वकीयं सम्पूर्ण जीवनम् भारतस्य स्वतन्त्रता-संग्रामाय अर्पितवान्। सः बारदोली - कृषकाणाम् आन्दोलनस्य सफलं नेतृत्वं अकरोत्। तेन कारणेन महात्मा गान्धिना 'सरदार' इति उपाधिना सम्मानितः । गुर्जरप्रदेशे जलौघ - पीडितानां भूकम्पपीडितानां च एषः अहर्निशं सेवाम् अकरोत् ।
अनेकवारं सः कारागारे पातितः । तस्य आङ्ग्लाधिकारिभिः प्रताडिता । 1942 तमे वर्षे, 'भारतं त्यजत' इति वृद्धा माता आन्दोलने स अकथयत् न केवलं भारतं त्यजत अपितु एशियामेव त्यजत इति वक्तव्यम्। स्वतन्त्रभारतस्य स उपप्रधानमन्त्री अभवत्। भारतं तदा अनेकेषु लघुराज्येषु विभक्तम् आसीत् । सः स्वनीतिचातुर्येण षट्शतस्वदेशीय राज्यानाम् अखण्डे भारते विलयम् अकरोत् ।
