Preparation Tips for RPSC RAS 2026
Understand the Local Context: The RPSC interview specifically awards marks for your knowledge of Rajasthani culture. Your preparation for both Prelims and Mains must heavily emphasize Rajasthan’s geography, history, and economy. Read books authored by local historians and the Rajasthan Board (RBSE) textbooks.
Master the Art of Answer Writing: Since the Mains exam is completely descriptive and analytical, your success depends on effective expression. The notification explicitly states that credit will be given for orderly, exact expression, and economy of words. Practice writing concise, structured answers without fluff.
Adapt to the 5-Option OMR Rule: RPSC has implemented a strict 5-circle OMR system for the Prelims. Even if you don’t know an answer, you must fill the 5th circle. Build this habit during your mock tests so you don’t face negative marking for unattempted questions.
Strengthen Language Skills: Paper IV (Hindi and English) is often the deciding factor in the Mains ranking. Dedicate at least one hour daily to studying grammar rules up to the Senior Secondary level, translating passages, and practicing formal drafting.
Stay Updated with Current Events: Read regional newspapers (like Rajasthan Patrika or Dainik Bhaskar) and national dailies (The Hindu/Indian Express) to build a robust understanding of current affairs, which aids in GS-III and essay writing. Ensure you integrate economic survey data of Rajasthan into your economic answers.
