| Written Examination | The Written Examination is the first stage of the UPSC CAPF (Assistant Commandant) Recruitment 2026 selection process. It is conducted in offline mode and consists of objective and descriptive papers designed to assess candidates’ general ability, intelligence, current affairs, aptitude, and essay/comprehension skills. Candidates who secure the prescribed cut-off marks are shortlisted for the next stage. |
| Physical Standards Test (PST) / Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Medical Examination | Candidates qualifying the Written Examination are called for the Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Medical Examination. The PST verifies whether candidates meet the prescribed height, weight, and chest measurements (where applicable). The PET evaluates physical fitness through activities such as running and other prescribed events. The Medical Examination ensures that candidates are medically fit to perform the duties of an Assistant Commandant. |
| Interview / Personality Test | Candidates who successfully clear the physical and medical stages are invited for the Interview/Personality Test conducted by the UPSC. This stage assesses the candidate’s leadership qualities, communication skills, decision-making ability, mental alertness, confidence, and overall personality. The final merit list is prepared based on the combined performance in the Written Examination and the Interview/Personality Test, subject to meeting all eligibility requirements. |
