Preparation Tips

  1. Master Your Core Subjects: Because this is a specialized technical exam, the bulk of the questions will be drawn from your diploma or degree coursework. Whether you are applying for Agriculture, Civil, Printing, or Science, dust off your standard college textbooks. Focus on the foundational principles, as objective questions usually test your grasp of core concepts rather than complex, long-form problem-solving. Keep an eye on the BTSC website to download the official syllabus as soon as it is published.
  2. Navigate the Negative Marking Wisely: The exam implements a strict penalty of -0.25 marks for every wrong answer. This means blind guessing can destroy your chances of selection. Practice intelligent elimination techniques during your mock tests. If you cannot narrow down a question to at least two options, it is mathematically safer to leave it unattempted. Focus on maximizing your accuracy over attempting all 100 questions.
  3. Prepare for the CBT Environment: Since the examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT), comfort with digital testing interfaces is crucial. Time management is key—you have 120 minutes for 100 questions, giving you roughly one minute per question. Take online mock tests to improve your reading speed on a screen and to practice navigating between questions without losing time.
  4. Secure Your Documentation and Experience Certificates: While studying is critical, bureaucratic readiness is equally important. If you are claiming marks for previous contract work, you must have your experience certificate in the exact format provided in Appendix-1 of the notification, signed by the Principal of the respective Government Engineering College or Polytechnic. Furthermore, ensure all your documents (Matriculation certificate, Diploma/Degree, Domicile, and Caste/Non-Creamy Layer certificates) are issued before the deadline of May 6, 2026, and are uploaded clearly in the online form. Blurry or unreadable documents can lead to outright disqualification during the Document Verification phase.
