Introduction 

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced new jobs for Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) for 2025. This is a very good job opportunity in India’s financial world. SEBI is the main government body that manages the Indian stock market. A job at SEBI is very important.

They are hiring for different types of posts (called streams), including General, Legal, Information Technology, Research, Official Language, and Engineering (Electrical & Civil). This job offers good pay, career growth, and important work.

Eligibility Criteria

You must check if you are eligible before you apply. You must meet the age and education rules. The cut-off date for checking your age is September 30, 2025.

Age Limit (as on 30/09/2025)

  • You must be 30 years old or younger.
  • This means you must be born on or after October 01, 1995.

Age Relaxation

If you are in a reserved category, you can be older than 30.

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer):
  • 3 years (if posts are reserved for them).
  • PwBD (General):
  • 10 years.

Educational Qualification: 

General Stream:
  • Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma (at least two years) in any subject; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; OR
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CFA, Company Secretary (CS), or Cost Accountant.
Legal Stream:
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
  • Good to have (but not required): Two years of experience as an Advocate.
Information Technology Stream:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (any branch); OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with a post-graduate qualification (at least two years) in computer science, computer application, or IT.
Research Stream:
  • Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma (at least two years) in Economics, Commerce, Business, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields.

Official Language Stream
  • Master’s Degree in Hindi/Hindi Translation with English as a subject in your Bachelor’s Degree; OR
  • Master’s Degree in Sanskrit/English/Economics/Commerce with Hindi as a subject in your Bachelor’s Degree; OR
  • Master’s Degree in both English and Hindi/Hindi Translation.
Engineering (Electrical) Stream:
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Good to have (but not required): Experience with CCTV, fire alarms, lifts, pumps, etc..
Engineering (Civil) Stream:
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Good to have (but not required): Experience in property maintenance, construction projects, or knowledge of design software.

Note for Final Year Students: If you have taken or will take your final exams, you can still apply. But, if you are called for the Interview (Phase III), you must show documents that prove you have passed.

Application Fee and Process

The application fee cannot be refunded.

Note: You can apply for a maximum of 2 streams. You must fill out a separate application and pay the fee for each one.

How to Apply

You must apply online through the official SEBI website, www.sebi.gov.in, between October 30, 2025, and November 28, 2025.

  1. Go to www.sebi.gov.in and click the “Careers” link.
  2. Find the “Recruitment of Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) – 2025” and click “APPLY ONLINE”.
  3. Click “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION” to get a Provisional Registration Number and Password.
  4. Fill out the application form. You can use the “SAVE AND NEXT” button.
  5. Upload these documents:
    • Photograph: Recent passport size color picture ($4.5 \text{cm} \times 3.5 \text{cm}$), 20KB-50KB.
    • Live Photograph: You will also need to take a live photo with a webcam or phone during the application.
    • Signature: On white paper with Black Ink, 10KB-20KB. Signatures in CAPITAL LETTERS will not be accepted.
    • Left Thumb Impression: On white paper with black or blue ink, 20KB-50KB.
    • Handwritten Declaration: On white paper with black ink, 50KB-100KB. This must be in English and written only by you.
  6. Text you must write by hand:
    “I, (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”
  7. Pay the application fee online.
  8. Check all your details one last time before clicking “COMPLETE REGISTRATION”.
  9. Print the e-receipt and the final application form for your records.

Salary and Job Details

This is a Grade A job with a very good salary.

  • Pay Scale: The pay scale is ₹62,500-3600(4) – 76900-4050(7) – 105250-EB-4050(4)-121450-4650(1)-126100 (17 years).
  • Total Monthly Salary: In Mumbai, the total salary (gross emolument) is approximately:
    • ₹1,84,000/- per month (if you do not take SEBI accommodation)
    • ₹1,43,000/- per month (if you take SEBI accommodation)
  • Benefits: You will also get other benefits like NPS contribution, Leave Fare Concession, Medical Expenses, Subsidized Lunch, and more.
  • Probation: You will be on a ‘probation’ period for two years.
  • Posting: You can be posted in any department and transferred to any SEBI office in India.

Selection Process

There are three steps to get this job:

  1. Phase I: On-Line Screening Exam
  2. Phase II: On-Line Exam
  3. Phase III: Interview
  • Phase I is just to qualify. The marks from Phase I will not be used for the final selection.
  • Your Final Score is calculated from Phase II (85% weightage) and the Interview (15% weightage).
  • Extra points for Experience: For Legal and Engineering streams, if you have relevant experience, you can get extra marks (up to 3.75) in your final score.

Physical Standards and Tests

Many people ask about physical tests for these jobs.

Physical Standards

The SEBI notification does not ask for any general physical standards like height, weight, or chest measurements.

However, there are special rules and suitable post-identifications for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). If you are applying as a PwBD candidate, please read that section in the official notification carefully.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

There is no Physical Efficiency Test (PET) (like running, high jump, long jump, etc.) required for the SEBI Officer Grade A job. The selection is based only on the three steps: Phase I Exam, Phase II Exam, and Interview.

Preparation Tips

 

  • Study the Full Syllabus: The syllabus is large. Break it down into small parts and make a study plan.
  • Do Not Ignore Paper 1 (Phase I): This paper (Math, Reasoning, English, GA) is for everyone. You must pass it to get to Phase II. Pay special attention to financial news for the General Awareness (GA) section.
  • Focus on Your Special Subject: Your subject in Paper 2 is the most important. It has a 2/3rd weightage in Phase II. Your knowledge of this subject will decide if you get the job.
  • Practice Writing (Descriptive): Paper 1 of Phase II is an English writing test. Practice writing summaries (précis), essays, and comprehension. For Legal and Research streams, Paper 2 is also descriptive, so practice typing your answers.
  • Mock Tests: Take as many practice tests (mock tests) as you can for both Phase I and Phase II. This will help you manage your time, especially for Phase I Paper 2 (100 questions in 40 minutes).
  • Negative Marking: Remember there is negative marking (1/4th) for wrong answers. Being accurate is as important as being fast.

Admit Card 

 

  • You must download your call letters for Phase I, Phase II, and the Interview from the SEBI website www.sebi.gov.in.
  • SEBI will send an email/SMS, but you are responsible for downloading it.
  • You will need your Registration Number/Roll Number and Password/Date of Birth to log in.
  • Important: You must put a recent photo on the call letter (the same photo you used to register).
  • At the exam center, you must bring:
    1. The Call Letter.
    2. A valid Photo Identity Proof (like Aadhaar, Passport, PAN Card) in original.
    3. A photocopy of that same Photo Identity Proof.

Result

 

  • The list of candidates who pass Phase I and are shortlisted for Phase II will be put on the SEBI website.
  • Similarly, the list of candidates shortlisted for the Interview will be posted after Phase II.
  • The final selection is based on your total score in Phase II (85% weightage) and the Interview (1S% weightage).
