SSB ASI: Exam Pattern
Candidates who successfully qualify the Physical Standard Test (PST) will be called to appear for the Written Examination. The exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of a single Paper-I Common Entrance Test.
The exam is designed to test both your general aptitude and your deep technical knowledge in your chosen specialization. Final merit will be prepared strictly on the basis of marks obtained in this written examination.

Preparation Tips
- Prioritize Your Technical Subject: * Part-II of the exam carries 100 out of the total 150 marks. You must master the core subjects of your respective diploma (Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, Operation Theatre Technology, or Dental Hygiene).
- Crucial Tip: If candidates score equal marks in the written exam, the candidate who secures more marks in Part-II (Technical Subject) will be ranked higher in the merit list.
- Do Not Neglect Part-I (General Aptitude): * While technical knowledge is paramount, you must hit the overall qualifying threshold (50% or 45% depending on your category). Dedicate daily study blocks to brushing up on Mathematics, Reasoning, General Knowledge, and either English or Hindi grammar.
- Prepare Physically for the PST: * Only candidates who qualify the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) can take the written exam.
- Ensure you meet the height requirements (e.g., 165 cm for UR/OBC/SC males and 155 cm for females).
- Maintain a healthy weight. While weight is not a disqualification criteria during the PST, overweight or underweight candidates will be disqualified later during the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) based on Age-Height BMI charts.
- Get Your Documentation in Order Early: * All eligibility conditions and certificate possession are determined as of the closing date of the application.
- If you are claiming age relaxation or category reservation (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), ensure your certificates match the exact prescribed annexure formats. For example, the OBC non-creamy layer certificate must have been obtained within three years of the application’s closing date. Failing to produce original documents leads to straightway cancellation of your candidature.
- Protect Your Biometric Integrity: * The SSB strictly monitors biometrics. Your left and right thumb impressions will be captured during attendance at all stages. Ensure your hands are clean and free of henna, cuts, or chemicals that might cause a mismatch, as non-matching biometrics will mark you as a suspected candidate.
- Follow Photo & Signature Rules Carefully: * Applications with blurred photographs or incorrect signatures are summarily rejected. Ensure your photo has a white background covering 75% of your face, without caps or goggles. If you upload a photo with a beard, you must maintain that beard throughout the recruitment process. Signatures must strictly be in black or dark blue ink
