The Railway Recruitment Cell South Central Railway (RRC SCR) conducts the Apprentice recruitment to provide technical training opportunities to eligible candidates in various railway workshops and units. The RRC SCR Apprentice Exam is not a traditional competitive examination but a merit-based recruitment process carried out under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. It is mainly intended for candidates who have completed 10th class (Matriculation) and ITI in relevant trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Carpenter, and Diesel Mechanic.
Unlike many government recruitment exams, there is no written test or interview for this selection. Instead, candidates are shortlisted through a merit list prepared by calculating the average percentage of marks obtained in the 10th class and ITI examinations, giving equal weightage to both qualifications.
The recruitment offers aspiring technicians an opportunity to gain hands-on training in railway establishments, where they learn practical skills and receive a stipend during the training period. This apprenticeship serves as a valuable pathway for building a career in the railway and technical sectors.
