Preparation Tips
- Master the General Studies of Rajasthan (Paper I) Although Paper I carries 75 marks, it is the ultimate deciding factor. Do not take it lightly. Read standard state board books and dedicated Rajasthan GK guides to cover the vast history, geography, and economy. Make short notes on folk culture, dialects, and contemporary events. Keep a close eye on the latest government welfare schemes and policies in the state.
- Dive Deep into Your Core Subject (Paper II) Paper II carries a massive 300 marks, meaning your master’s level knowledge will be put to the test. Go back to your postgraduate textbooks and UGC NET/SET study materials, as the qualification standard mirrors these exams. Break your syllabus into manageable units and assign weekly targets. Focus on conceptual clarity rather than rote memorization.
- Understand the Minimum Qualifying Criteria You cannot rely purely on one paper. The board mandates a strict 36% minimum in each paper and a 40% aggregate to qualify. Balance your study hours so that you don’t fall behind in Paper I while over-preparing for Paper II.
- Practice the 5-Option OMR Rule This is a relatively new and crucial rule by RSSB. During your mock tests, practice filling the OMR sheets with 5 options. Remember, if you do not know an answer, you must darken the ‘E’ bubble. Failing to do so will result in a 1/3 mark deduction per question, and leaving more than 10% of questions completely blank will lead to outright disqualification. Train your brain to allocate the final 10 extra minutes of the exam strictly for bubbling the ‘E’ option for unattempted questions.
- Time Management and Accuracy You have 1 hour for 60 questions in Paper I and 2 hours for 120 questions in Paper II. This gives you exactly 1 minute per question. Take timed mock tests regularly to build your speed. Because of the 1/3 negative marking, accuracy is more important than attempting every question. Learn the art of skipping doubtful questions (and marking ‘E’!).
