Preparation Tips

  1. Conquer the Punjabi Language Paper (Part-A):
    • Do not underestimate Part-A. Even if you score exceptionally high in Part-B, failing to secure the mandatory 50% in the Punjabi paper will disqualify you immediately.
    • Focus on 10th-level Punjabi grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. Practice past papers from the Punjab School Education Board.
  2. Strategize for Part-B (The Merit Decider):
    • Because the final merit list is based exclusively on Part-B, maximizing your score here is critical.
    • Beware of negative marking. Since 1/4th of a mark is deducted for incorrect answers, avoid guessing wildly. Accuracy is more important than attempting every single question.
    • Keep checking the official PSSSB website (https://sssb.punjab.gov.in) regularly, as the board will upload the detailed syllabus for Part-B and the roll numbers there in due time.
  3. Start Physical Training Immediately:
    • The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is demanding. A 100-meter sprint in 15 seconds (for men) or 18.5 seconds (for women) requires good explosive speed and cannot be achieved overnight.
    • Find a local ground to practice Shot Put with the exact regulation weights (7.26 Kg for men, 5.443 Kg for women) to build the necessary upper-body strength.
    • Rope climbing requires technique and core strength. Practice strictly within the mandated height requirements (15 feet for males, 12 feet for females).
  4. Organize Your Documentation:
    • The application strictly requires you to fill out your category code perfectly; no changes will be allowed later. Ensure you have valid Punjab domicile certificates if claiming reservation. Keep all original documents ready for the counseling phase to avoid disqualification.
