Jharkhand Tet

The Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) is a state-level examination conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in primary (Classes 1–5) and upper primary (Classes 6–8) schools in Jharkhand. Organized by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), the exam aims to ensure that aspiring teachers possess the necessary knowledge, teaching aptitude, and subject proficiency required for quality education.

The JTET consists of two papers—Paper I for primary level and Paper II for upper primary level—comprising objective-type multiple-choice questions. The syllabus generally includes subjects like Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I & II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, and Social Science. Qualifying the JTET is mandatory for candidates seeking government teaching jobs in the state. It plays a crucial role in maintaining educational standards by selecting competent and skilled teachers for Jharkhand’s school system.

Preparation Tips

  • Understand NEP 2020 Inside Out: The 2026 syllabus is heavily anchored in the National Education Policy 2020. You must understand the 4-block approach, foundational learning frameworks (NCF-FS), and the emphasis on multilingualism.
  • Prioritize Pedagogy: Notice that every single subject—from EVS to Mathematics to Social Science—includes a dedicated section on “Pedagogical Dimensions” (शिक्षा शास्त्रीय आयाम). Do not just memorize facts; learn how to teach these subjects, how to handle diverse classrooms, and how to utilize Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE).
  • Embrace Your Regional/Tribal Language: The JAC places immense value on local languages and culture. If you opt for a language like Santhali, Kurukh, or Khortha, ensure you are well-versed in its local folk tales, folk songs, grammar, and oral traditions.
  • Brush Up on Digital Literacy: For upper primary teachers, Computer Education is crucial. Familiarize yourself with basic MS Office tools, internet etiquette, and specifically government educational platforms like DIKSHA and PM E-Vidya.
  • Focus on the Local Context: In subjects like Social Science, ensure you study the specific geography, history (like the Santhal Rebellion), and economic conditions of Jharkhand alongside national topics.
