Preparation Tips

1. Master the Technical Weightage

Since Section B accounts for 200 out of 300 marks, your core engineering subjects are the “make or break” factors. Focus heavily on Structural Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, and Surveying. In the DSSSB format, conceptual clarity is prioritized over simple rote learning to test “problem-solving capacity”.

2. Don’t Ignore Section A Qualifying Marks

While Section A might seem secondary, the final merit list is prepared based on cumulative marks from both sections. For the General category, a minimum of 40% is required to qualify. Practice mental math and basic Hindi/English grammar daily to secure these “easier” marks quickly.

3. Time Management and Mock Tests

With 200 questions to be solved in 180 minutes, you have less than a minute per question. Use the mock test link available on the DSSSB website to familiarize yourself with the online computer-based examination interface.

4. Strategic Departmental Preferences

During the e-dossier stage, you will be asked for departmental preferences. Research the “Recruitment Rules” of the Delhi Jal Board versus the NDMC early, as eligibility and pay scales can vary slightly. Once confirmed, these preferences are final and irreversible.

5. Document Readiness

Ensure your OBC (Delhi) or EWS certificates are updated. For instance, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificates must be issued between April 1, 2025, and March 25, 2026. Having your paperwork in order prevents last-minute disqualification during the e-dossier scrutiny.
