Preparation Tips
- Prioritize the 2023 Criminal Laws: The syllabus has been updated to reflect India’s new legal framework. Instead of the old IPC, CRPC, and Evidence Act, you must thoroughly study the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023, and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023. Ensure your study materials are fully updated to these new codes.
- Do Not Ignore the Language Papers: It is easy to focus solely on law, but Papers 2 (Hindi) and 3 (English) in the Mains are mandatory hurdles. You must secure a minimum of 30 marks in each of these papers. If you fail to achieve this, you will be disqualified from the written exam, regardless of how well you perform in your law subjects. Practice basic grammar, essay writing, and clear expression in both languages.
- Match the University Standard: When tackling Papers 4 through 8 in the Main Examination, align your preparation depth with the standards of the Patna University Law Graduate Examination. The questions will test a thorough, degree-level understanding rather than just surface-level memorization.
- Master the Minor and Local Acts: Paper 8 is entirely dedicated to “Other Laws,” making it a crucial scoring area. Dedicate specific time to local laws like the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016 (specifically Chapters VI and VIII) and the Bihar Police Act, 2007, as well as special acts like the POCSO Act, 2012 and IT Act, 2000 (specifically Chapter 11).
- Prepare Your Documentation Early: Do not wait until the last minute to organize your paperwork. The notification strictly states that all required certificates (including degree, caste, domicile, EWS, or non-creamy layer certificates) must be issued on or before the application deadline of March 20, 2026. Certificates issued after this date will not be valid.
