Selection StageDetails
Preliminary Examination (Pre Exam)The Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the BPSC APO Selection Process. It is an objective-type (MCQ) examination conducted to shortlist candidates for the Mains Examination. The paper generally assesses candidates’ knowledge of General Studies, Current Affairs, General Science, and Law-related subjects as prescribed in the official syllabus. Candidates must secure the required cut-off marks to qualify for the next stage.
Mains ExaminationCandidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Mains Examination. This stage consists of descriptive (written) papers designed to evaluate candidates’ in-depth knowledge of Law, Constitution, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Evidence Act, Procedural Laws, Language, and other subjects mentioned in the official notification. The marks obtained in the Mains Examination are crucial for shortlisting candidates for the Interview.
Interview / Viva VoceCandidates who successfully clear the Mains Examination are called for the Interview/Viva Voce. During this stage, the selection panel assesses the candidate’s legal knowledge, communication skills, analytical ability, personality, confidence, decision-making skills, and overall suitability for the post of Assistant Prosecution Officer. The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the Mains Examination and Interview, subject to document verification and fulfillment of all eligibility conditions.
