The Bihar BCECE Senior Resident/Tutor Exam is a competitive recruitment examination conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board to select qualified medical professionals for Senior Resident and Tutor positions in government medical colleges and hospitals across Bihar. This exam is primarily aimed at candidates who have completed their postgraduate medical degrees (MD/MS/DNB) in relevant specialties.
The selection process generally involves evaluation based on academic qualifications, work experience, and, in some cases, an interview. The exam ensures that skilled and competent doctors are appointed to strengthen the state’s healthcare and medical education system. Candidates are assessed on their subject knowledge, clinical expertise, and teaching aptitude. It offers a valuable opportunity for medical professionals to secure a stable government job while contributing to patient care and academic development in Bihar’s public health sector.

Bihar BCECE Senior Resident: Exam Pattern
There is no written test, the “exam pattern” is effectively replaced by a direct merit and counseling phase.
| Selection Stage | Mode | Description |
| Stage 1: Merit & Qualification Screening | Academic Evaluation | Selection is based on holding a Post Graduate degree in the relevant specialty. If there is a shortage of eligible PG candidates, Diploma holders will be considered. Diploma holders are given a 10-point weightage equivalent to a PG degree, but they will inherently be placed lower on the merit list than actual PG degree holders. |
| Stage 2: Counseling & Document Verification | In-Person | Candidates will be called for document verification. All original certificates regarding academics, registration, age, and reservation must be physically presented to the board. No travel allowance is provided for this stage. |
Bihar BCECE Senior Resident: Syllabus
The board evaluates your eligibility based strictly on your academic background.
| Post / Subject Area | Required Academic “Syllabus” Background |
| Standard Medical Subjects | Must hold a Post Graduate degree (MD/MS) in the specific subject area. Degrees must be recognized by the MCI/NMC. DNB/DNB Super Speciality degrees are also strictly valid under NMC 2025 guidelines. |
| Non-Medical Faculties (e.g., Biochemistry) | Candidates must hold a Master of Science (Medical) degree combined with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. |
| Multiple Specialties | If a physician holds PG degrees in multiple subjects, they must apply separately for each department. |
| Previous Tenure Clause | Candidates who have already completed a 3-year Senior Resident/Tutor tenure in a specific subject cannot reapply for the same subject. |
