Full Information about UPSSSC PET

The UPSSSC PET (Preliminary Eligibility Test) is a state-level screening exam conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission. It serves as the first and essential eligibility step for candidates who wish to apply for various Group C posts in Uttar Pradesh, such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, and other similar roles. Instead of applying separately for multiple exams, candidates only need to clear the PET to become eligible for the next stages of specific recruitments, including Mains exams and skill tests. This makes the PET a crucial qualifying test for anyone aiming for government jobs in Uttar Pradesh.

The PET is not a test for a specific job. Instead, it is the first part of a two-step exam system for all Group ‘C’ jobs in the state. When you pass the PET, you get a scorecard. This score is like an entry ticket. It allows you to apply for the main job exams (Main Examinations) that will be announced later when different departments have job openings. A major new update is that your PET scorecard will now be valid for three years

After the results are out, you will get a scorecard. Later, when government departments have job openings (like for Junior Assistant, Lekhpal, etc.), they will announce separate "Main Exams." Only people with a valid PET score can apply for these Main Exams. Candidates with the highest PET scores will be invited to take the Main Exam for that specific job.

Salary

The PET itself does not offer any salary. It is only a qualifying test.

The Group 'C' jobs you can apply for after passing PET fall under specific government pay scales. These are generally posts with a Grade Pay of ₹1900 or more, but less than ₹4600. The exact salary will depend on the specific job (like Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, etc.) you get selected for through the Main Exam.

Selection Process

The selection process for Group 'C' jobs has two main steps:

Stage 1: Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025

This is the offline written exam described in this guide. It is a qualifying test. After the exam, you will get a scorecard with your score. This score will be valid for three years.

Stage 2: Main Examination / Skill Test

When government departments have job openings, the UPSSSC will release separate advertisements for Main Exams. Only candidates with a valid PET score can apply. Candidates will be "shortlisted" (invited) for the Main Exam based on their PET scores, starting from the highest score. Your final selection for the job will be based on your performance in that Main Exam.

Physical Standard & Efficiency Test Details

This is because the PET is only a preliminary written test to make you eligible for all Group 'C' posts.

Physical requirements are specific to certain jobs. If you apply for a job like Forest Guard or an Excise Constable later, the Main Exam notification for that specific job will include all the details about the physical tests required.
