A big opportunity is available for agriculture graduates in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has posted a detailed notice This notice is for empty jobs for Technical Assistant Group-C in the Agriculture Department. This job drive is mainly for candidates who took the UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test-2023 (PET-2023) and have a valid scorecard.

Eligibility Criteria

Before you apply, all candidates must check that they meet the rules for education, age, and PET. These rules are set by the commission.

Educational Qualification

The rules say that to apply for the Technical Assistant Group-C job, a candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from a recognized institution or university established by law in India.
  • OR a degree that is equal to it, such as:
    • B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture
    • B.Sc. Horticulture / B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture
    • B.Sc. Forestry / B.Sc. (Hons) Forestry
    • B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering)
    • B.Sc. (Home Science) / Community Science (4-year degree) from an Agriculture University.

Preferential Qualification

If two or more candidates get the same score, the job will be offered first to a candidate who has:

  1. Served in the Territorial Army for a minimum period of two years, OR
  2. Obtained a 'B' certificate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Age Limit (checked on July 1, 2024)

  • Youngest age: 21 years
  • Oldest age: 40 years

Age Rule Breaks:

  • The oldest age limit can be raised for candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and other special groups, as per government rules.
  • Note: The 2384 candidates who are part of the Supreme Court order are given a break on the age limit.

PET-2023 Requirement

  • Candidates must have taken the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET)-2023.
  • They must have a scorecard with a valid number score.
  • Candidates who got a score of zero, less than zero, or a negative score will not be chosen for the main exam.
  • Special Rule: The 2384 candidates from the Supreme Court order do not need to meet this PET rule.

  • Women, Ex-servicemen, PwD, and Dependents of Freedom Fighters will pay the fee based on their main category.

Main Examination Fee:

This ₹25 fee is just for processing the online application. Candidates who are picked for the Main Exam must pay a different Main Exam Fee. They must pay this before they can download their admit card.

Application Process

This notice has two different ways to apply:

  1. For PET-2023 Candidates: These candidates will apply. They will log in using their PET-2023 Registration Number.
  2. For the 2384 Special Candidates: These candidates must not use the normal PET login. First, they must get a Temporary PET Registration Number (T.P.E.T. Registration Number). They get this from a special 'Lateral Entry' link on the UPSSSC website. After getting this T.P.E.T. number, they will use it to log in and fill out the main application.

To get the T.P.E.T. number, these 2384 candidates will need to:

  • Go to the 'Lateral Entry' link on the UPSSSC website.
  • Prove who they are using details from their 2013 exam. This includes Registration Number, Roll Number, Date of Birth, Gender, Category, and their registered Mobile Number.
  • Fill in their personal and education details.
  • Upload their newest photo and signature.
  • Submit the form to get their unique T.P.E.T. Registration Number.

Salary (Pay Scale)

The pay details for the Technical Assistant Group-C job are:

  • Pay Band: 5200-20200
  • Grade Pay: 2400/-
  • Revised Pay Matrix: Level-4 (₹25,500 - ₹81,100)

Selection Process

The way people are chosen for these jobs is based only on a Written Main Examination.

How to get picked for the Main Exam:

  • PET-2023 Candidates: People will be picked based on their PET-2023 score. The commission will pick 15 times the number of jobs available (for each category). All candidates who have the same cut-off score (up to two decimal points) will be included.
  • 2384 Special Candidates: The 2384 candidates who apply using the special 'Lateral Entry' (T.P.E.T.) way will be allowed to take the Main Exam directly. They will not be shortlisted based on a score.
  • Important Note: What if one of the 2384 special candidates also has a PET-2023 score? If they choose to apply using their PET-2023 number (and not the T.P.E.T. number), they will lose their special rule. They will be shortlisted just like all other PET-2023 candidates.

Exam Pattern

The main exam will be one single paper that has three parts.

  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Total Time: 120 Minutes (2 Hours)
  • Question Type: Objective & Multiple Choice (MCQ)
  • Negative Marking: Yes, there is a penalty for wrong answers. For every wrong answer, 25% (or 1/4) of the mark for that question will be taken away.

Physical Standards or Efficiency Test

The official notice does not talk about any Physical Standards (like height or chest). It also does not talk about a Physical Efficiency Test (like running). The way people are chosen is based only on the written exam.

Part 1 (Agriculture - 65 Marks)

  1. Crop Science
    • Types of crops. How to grow major cereals, pulses, oilseeds, millets, fiber, cash, spices, fodder, fruits, flowers, and vegetables grown in Uttar Pradesh.
    • Managing produce after harvest.
    • Preserving and processing fruits and vegetables.
    • Basics of crop rotation. Cropping patterns and types of farming (dry farming, integrated farming, natural farming, mono-cropping, multiple cropping, intercropping).
    • Importance, types, and money-related use of organic farming.
    • Importance of seed, types of seeds, and how to produce them.
    • Methods of seed treatment and why it is important.
    • Basic rules, goals, and importance of crop protection. Major tools and chemicals used. Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
    • Insects, pests, and diseases of major crops and how to manage them.
    • Rules and systems of storing produce; things that affect the quality of produce and storage, and how to manage it.
  2. Biotechnology, Plant Breeding & Crop Physiology
    • Why Biotechnology is important and useful in farming.
    • Basics, use, and importance of Genetics & Plant Breeding.
    • Photosynthesis, Respiration, Transpiration, Plant Anatomy, and Metabolism.
  3. Soil & Water Management / Conservation
    • What soil is made of, how it is made, types of soil loss (erosion), and how to stop it.
    • Key nutrients found in soil, what they do, and problems caused when they are missing.
    • Types of fertilizers, their nutrient levels, and how to use them.
    • Integrated Nutrient Management (INM). Types, importance, and role of organic fertilizers / bio-fertilizers.
    • Soil microbiology and its big role in growing crops.
    • Soil survey, how to take soil samples, and ways to save soil.
    • Sources, methods, and importance of irrigation.
    • Basic ideas and methods of drainage.
    • Watershed Management.
    • Types of pollution and protecting the environment.
  4. Agriculture Extension

  5. Agriculture Economics & Schemes
    • Role of farming in the One Trillion Dollar economy of U.P.
    • Money-related changes in the farming sector.
    • Idea of import and export of farm produce.
    • Making plans for Agriculture.
    • Basics of Agricultural Statistics.
    • Basics and importance of agricultural economics.
    • Minimum Support Price (MSP) of different crops.
    • Agricultural Marketing.
  6. Dairy & Animal Husbandry
    • Different breeds of farm animals and how to manage their feed.
    • Goals and methods of animal breeding.
    • Milk production and how it is given out.
    • Basic knowledge of Poultry farming, Fish farming, Apiculture (beekeeping), and Sericulture (silkworm raising).
    • Major diseases of farm animals, how to identify them, and how to treat them.

Part 2: Computer & IT (15 Marks)

  • The history, basics, and uses of Computer, Information Technology, Internet, and World Wide Web (WWW).
  • General Knowledge about:
    • Hardware and Software
    • Input and Output
    • Internet Protocol / IP Address
    • IT gadgets and their uses
    • Creating an e-mail ID and using/sending e-mail
    • How to use a Printer, Tablet, and Mobile
    • Important parts of Word Processing (MS-Word) and Excel Processing (MS-Excel)
    • Operating System, Social Networking, e-Governance
  • Digital Financial Tools and Applications.
  • Future Skills and Cyber Security.
  • New technology and changes in the field of Computer and IT (Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Processing, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Internet of Things) and what India has achieved in this area.

Part 3: General Information on Uttar Pradesh (20 Marks)

  • History, Culture, Art, Buildings, Festivals, Folk Dance, Writing, Regional Languages, Heritage, Social Customs, and Tourism of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Geography and Environment, Natural Resources, Climate, Soil, Forest, Wildlife, Mines, and Minerals of UP.
  • Economy, Agriculture, Industry, Business, and Jobs in UP.
  • Government and Administration of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Current Events and Achievements of Uttar Pradesh State in different areas.

Result

The final result will be posted on the official UPSSSC website. This will happen after the written exam is given and checked. The final list of people chosen will be based on the marks they get in this main written exam.

 

Admit Card

The admit card for the main written exam will only be given to the candidates who are picked (shortlisted). As said before, these picked candidates must first pay the separate Main Exam Fee. After they pay, they can download their admit card from the official UPSSSC website.

Preparation Tips

  • Focus on Part 1 first: The agriculture part (Part 1) is worth 65 out of 100 marks. Getting chosen depends a lot on this part. Get a strong understanding of all six topics.
  • Do not forget Parts 2 & 3: The Computer and UP General Knowledge parts are worth 35 marks together. They will be very important for your final rank. Study all the topics listed for them.
  • Take practice tests: Act like you are taking the real 120-minute, 100-question exam. Be careful about the penalty for wrong answers (negative marking). Use your time well.
  • Keep up with the news: For Part 3, read new information about Uttar Pradesh. This includes new government plans, money news, and big events.
  • Learn the basics: For Part 2 (Computer), focus on the skills mentioned (like MS Office, email, and using phones) and new topics (like AI, IoT, and Cyber Security).
