IIS (Indian Information Service) भारत सरकार की एक Group A Central Civil Service है| जिसके लिए UPSC के Civil Services Examinations (CSE) देना होता है इसके लिए कोई अलग Exam नहीं होता है | UPSC के द्वारा Total 979 पदों पर भर्ती निकाली गयी है | जिन्हें अलग - अलग पदों पर भरा जाना है उनमें से एक पद IIS भी है | IIS के लिए कोई कितनी Vacancy है ऐसा कोई भी Data अब तक आयोग ने निर्धारित नहीं किया है |
Eligibility & Qualification for IIS Examination:
IIS के लिए आवेदन करने वाले उम्मीदवारों को UPSC Civil Services Exam की योग्यता पूरी करनी होती है:
- शैक्षणिक योग्यता (Education): किसी मान्यता प्राप्त विश्वविद्यालय से Graduation होना अनिवार्य है (कोई भी विषय चलेगा)। Final year के छात्र भी आवेदन कर सकते हैं ।
- राष्ट्रीयता (Nationality): भारत के नागरिक, नेपाल/भूटान के निवासी, तिब्बती शरणार्थी (1 जनवरी 1962 से पहले आए हुए), या UPSC द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त अन्य उम्मीदवार आवेदन कर सकते हैं ।
- शारीरिक मानक (Physical Standards): IIS के लिए कोई विशेष फिजिकल मानदंड आवश्यक नहीं है ।
Age Criteria for the IIS Examination:
- IIS में appear होने के लिए candidate की Minimum age 21 years और Maximum age 32 years होनी चाहिए (as on 1st August of the examination year) ।

Application Fees for IIS Examination:
IIS परीक्षा के लिए आवेदन शुल्क इस प्रकार होता है:
- General/OBC/EWS category के candidates के लिए: ₹100 (one hundred rupees)
- SC/ST/PwD/Female candidates के लिए: कोई आवेदन शुल्क नहीं होता।
- Payment online mode में होता है – जैसे कि Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking या UPI से।
How to Apply for the IIS Examination?
1. सबसे पहले UPSC की website पर Visit करें https://upsconline.nic.in|
2. फिर “Civil Services Examination” वाले section में जाएं
3. उसके बाद Online Application Form Part I और Part II भरें
4. फिर अपनी Personal details, educational qualification, ID proof, photo और signature upload करें
5. उसके बाद Application Fee pay करें|
6. Submit करने से पहले पूरा form दोबारा check कर लें
7. Submit के बाद application print जरूर निकाल लें
Salary for IIS Officers :
भारतीय सूचना सेवा (IIS) के एक अधिकारी की Starting Salary 7वें वेतन आयोग के अनुसार ₹56,100 Per Month होती है , जिसमें Allowances , DA (Dearness allowances), HRA(House Rent Allowances ), और अन्य सुविधाएं भी सम्मलित होती है | In Hand Salary ₹75,000 से ₹85,000 Per Month होती है | कुल वेतन:
अनुभव और प्रमोशन के आधार पर Salary ₹75,000 से ₹85,000 तक होती है |

Selection Process for IIS Examination :
IIS अधिकारियों का चयन UPSC द्वारा आयोजित तीन चरणों के माध्यम से होता है:
1. Preliminary Exam: दो MCQ बेस्ड पेपर — General Studies और CSAT (qualifying nature) ।
2. Main Exam: लिखित परीक्षा जिसमें Essay, General Studies I–IV, Optional Subject I–II, तथा Compulsory Indian Language व English जैसे पेपर शामिल होते हैं। केवल Essay, GS और Optional के Marks के आधार पर Mains Exam की merit बनती है | दो Language paper qualifying होते हैं।
3. Personality Test (Interview): 275 अंक का इंटरव्यू जो candidate की प्रशासनिक योग्यता, Ethics, Interpersonal skills, और Decision-making क्षमता के आधार पर होता है।
4. Final Merit List: केवल Mains (1750) + Interview marks (275) = 2025 अंक के आधार पर बनकर तयारी होती है |

Note:
- UPSC CSE में appear होने का मतलब है कि आपने Preliminary exam के लिए form भरा और paper दिया चाहे qualify किया हो या नहीं। वो एक attempt count होगा। अगर आपने सिर्फ form भरा लेकिन paper नहीं दिया, तो वो attempt count नहीं होता
Final Merit Calculation:
- IIS परीक्षा की final merit list UPSC द्वारा Mains Examination और Interview में प्राप्त अंकों के कुल योग के आधार पर तैयार की जाती है। Prelims परीक्षा केवल एक screening test होती है, और उसके अंक final selection में शामिल नहीं किए जाते।
- Mains Examination में कुल 1750 अंक होते हैं, जो 7 merit-based papers से आते हैं (हर paper 250 अंक का होता है)। इसके अलावा, जो उम्मीदवार Mains qualify करते हैं, उन्हें Personality Test या Interview के लिए बुलाया जाता है, जो कि 275 अंक का होता है।
- इस प्रकार, final merit का कुल स्कोर इस तरह बनता है:
- Mains (1750 marks) + Interview (275 marks) = Total 2025 marks
- उम्मीदवारों को इन 2025 अंकों में से प्राप्त अंकों के आधार पर एक All-India Rank (AIR) दी जाती है। फिर उसी Rank और उम्मीदवार द्वारा दिए गए service preferences (जैसे आवेदन IAS, IPS, IFS and IDAS आदि) के अनुसार उन्हें सेवाएं आवंटित की जाती हैं।
IIS Exam Pattern:
IIS के लिए कोई अलग से exam नहीं होता | इसके लिए UPSC Civil Services Exam clear करना पड़ता है| ये exam तीन stages में होता है:
1. Preliminary Examination (प्रारंभिक परीक्षा)
-ये stage qualifying nature की होती है और इसमें दो papers होते हैं:
- Paper I: General Studies (GS) – इसमें Current affairs, History, Polity, Geography, Economy, Environment, and Science जैसे topics cover होते हैं |
- Paper II: CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) – इसमें Comprehension, Logical reasoning, Mathematics और Decision-making शामिल होते हैं |
Note: CSAT qualifying होता है और इसमें minimum 33% लाना ज़रूरी होता है |
2. Mains Examination (मुख्य परीक्षा)
-ये stage merit के लिए count होती है और इसमें 9 papers होते हैं | जिनमें से 2 Papers Qualifying Nature के होते है | Merit 7 Papers के आधार पर निर्धारित की जाती हैं जिनमें 25 % Marks लाने अनिवार्य है |

- इसमें candidate की personality, communication skills, general awareness और decision-making abilities को judge किया जाता है. यह stage भी merit के लिए count होती है|
