Agniveer MR/SSR 2024: Eligibility, Exam Details, and Application Process

Department:

There are various departments involved in the Indian Navy; as the name suggests, two are: Matric Recruit (MR) and Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR). Under SSR, there is a medical assistant, and under MR, there is a steward.

Job Profile :

The roles and responsibilities include:

  • Caring for the ships.
  • Operating machinery.
  • Executing military missions.
  •  One branch is of Seamen; it is the executive branch and is divided into other sub-branches.
  • SSRs serve in powerful, modern ships like aircraft carriers, missile destroyers, highly technical submarines, and aircraft.
  • The MRs steward is responsible for serving food in the officers’ mess, performing duties such as waiting tables, housekeeping, managing wine and supplies, preparing the menu, and handling fund accounting. They are also trained in firearms and perform other duties. 

Job Location :

As the name suggests, ‘Navy’, the job location is obviously on the water. It depends on the role:

  • SSR (Medical Assistant): Their work is on the ships or submarines. They can also work in hospitals, if available or required.
  • Agniveer (MR): These are the sailors working as stewards in the messes of the officers as mentioned above. 

Job Timing :

In the Indian Navy, most sailors are expected to work 46 hours per week, 5 days per week. Technically, the sailors are on call 24 hours a day as they sail on the ship. In the time of wars, the sailors do not have any holidays or off.

Eligibility Criteria for This Post of MR /SSR are Discussed Blow :

For the post of Agniveer SSR, the interested candidate should have passed an intermediate examination in mathematics and physics, with one of the following subjects being chemistry/computer science/biology, with a minimum of 50% marks.

For the Agniveer MR (Chef/Steward Hygienist) post, the candidate should have passed his high school examination from any recognized university in any recognized board in India.

Physical Eligibility :

For Navy Agniveer, the height should be of 157 cm for males and 152 cm for female candidates.

For Navy Agniveer, the running is 1.6 km, which is to be completed within 6:30 minutes for males and should be completed within 8 minutes by females.

For Navy Agniveer, the candidates must do squat-ups (uthak baithak in Hindi), 20 times for males and 14 times for females.  

For Navy Agniveer, the candidates must do push-ups 12 times by males. There are no push-ups for female candidates.

For Navy Agniveer, the female candidates must do 10 times  bent knee sit-ups.

Age Limit:

The candidate applying for Navy MR SSR should be born between 1st November 2003 and 30th April 2007 (including both dates).

Marital Status :

The post of Navy MR/SSR is only open for unmarried candidates. At the time of enrolment, the candidates who will bear the certificate of ‘unmarried’ will only be considered.

This is also to be noted that the Agniveers will not be allowed to marry during their whole tenure of 4 years and shall be dismissed from the post if they do not comply.

Pay Scale

The candidates who will secure this position will be paid a package of 30,000 INR / month along with certain allowances.

Application Process

The candidates who are interested in applying for the post of Navy SSR can apply through the following steps:

  1. Candidates first have to visit the official website, C-DAC portal.
  2. During the application form, the candidate is required to upload his/her live photo.
  3. The candidates must read the notification carefully before applying and have a thorough understanding of it.
  4. Candidates must check and collect all the documents—ID Proof, Marksheets, Address details, etc.
  5. Scan the documents that are required such as photo, signature, ID Proof, etc.
  6. Before submitting the application form, the candidate must check all the filled-in columns once again carefully.
  7. Submit the form and take out the final printout of it.

Application Fee

The application fee for the General/OBC/EWS/SC/ST candidates is 500 INR. The fees have to be submitted after the submission of the application form online through a debit card, credit card, or net banking.

Selection Process For MR 

The selection process is based on two stages of the entrance examination – Stage I and Stage II.

Stage I is for shortlisting; it is an Indian Navy Entrance Test, in short, INET. Stage II is a written examination and recruitment medical examination (PFT).

 

Let us talk about the Stage I Exam (INET) 

INET is a computer-based online examination. It is for the purpose of shortlisting the candidates for stage II (written exam) based on their marks. The cutoff for this stage’s exam varies from state to state.

The total number of questions will be 50 objective-type, carrying 1 mark each. The subjects occurring in this examination are science, general awareness, and mathematics. The duration of the exam will be 30 minutes. There is a negative marking on each wrong answer of 0.25 marks.

Stage II Exam

It is a written exam and recruitment medical examination. It is a physical test. We have already discussed above regarding the eligibility of the candidates applying for this examination. Candidates who are found medically fit and match the eligibility criteria will be qualified and will be considered for the merit list and not otherwise.

Selection Procedure For SSR

The selection process consists of two stages 

Stage I and II 

In stage I, INET is conducted as conducted for the MR examination. It is also for the shortlisting of candidates for the Stage II exam. 

The questions occurring in the Indian Navy Entrance Test for SSR are computer-based, with a total of 100 questions of 1 mark each. It is of the objective type.

The subjects included in this examination are English, math, science, and general awareness.

Stage II 

It is a written exam and recruitment medical examination. It is a physical test. We have already  discussed above regarding the eligibility of the candidates applying for this examination. Candidates who are found medically fit and match the eligibility criteria will be qualified and will be considered for the merit list and not otherwise.

 

Admit Card

The admit card for the Navy MR/SSR examination is released once the date of the examination is confirmed and released. The admit card will be available to the candidates, notifying them about the date of the same. The candidates can check our website for recent updates or the official website. 

Result

The results of the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) will be declared after 30 days of the examination. This is a tentative date received by the official conducting authority. Then the shortlisted candidates will be called for the Stage II examination (PFT, written examination, and recruitment medical examination). The candidates may visit our website for result updates, and they can check their results once declared.
