Full Information about MPPSC SET Online Form

Introduction

The Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP SET) is a state-level examination conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across Madhya Pradesh. The exam aims to assess a candidate’s teaching and research aptitude, subject knowledge, and analytical ability. It is conducted in multiple subjects, allowing applicants to choose the one relevant to their post-graduation discipline.

The MP SET follows the pattern of the National Eligibility Test (NET) and consists of two papers—Paper I (General Teaching and Research Aptitude) and Paper II (Subject-specific). Candidates who qualify the exam are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor vacancies in various government and private higher education institutions within the state. Conducted once a year, MP SET offers a great opportunity for aspiring academicians to begin their teaching careers in Madhya Pradesh.

Salary

The SET is an eligibility test, not a job. The salary will be as per the rules for the post (Assistant Professor, Librarian, or Sports Officer) for which you get selected by a university or college after you have passed this SET exam.

Selection Process

The process to declare a candidate "qualified" in the SET-2025 is as follows:

  1. Appear for Both Papers: Candidates must appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. If a candidate is absent in any one paper, they will be disqualified.
  2. Get Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum percentage in both papers combined (total marks from Paper 1 + Paper 2).

Table 7: Minimum Qualifying Marks (Combined)

Category Minimum Marks to be Considered
Unreserved (General) / EWS 40% of total marks (300)
SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / PwD 35% of total marks (300)
  1. Top 6% Formula:
    • Passing with minimum marks (40% or 35%) does not mean you are qualified.
    • As per UGC rules, only the top 6% of the total candidates who appeared for both papers will be declared qualified.
  2. Category-wise Merit List:
    • This 6% "slot" (total number of qualified candidates) will be divided among all categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, UR, PwD, Women) as per the reservation policy of the Madhya Pradesh government.
    • A separate merit list will be made for each category (e.g., a merit list for SC, a merit list for ST, etc.).
    • The top candidates in each category's merit list (who also got the minimum 40%/35% marks) will be declared qualified.
  3. Reservation Policy Note: The result will be declared based on the MP Government's reservation policy. Due to a court case, the result will be declared for 87% of the slots. The result for the remaining 13% of slots will be declared after the final court decision.
