The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced the results for the SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination, 2025 on November 28, 2025. If you appeared for the Computer Based Examination (CBE) held earlier in August, you can now check your qualifying status. The Staff Selection Commission conducted the Computer Based Examination for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ over several days, from 06.08.2025 to 11.08.2025, at various centers across the country. The commission has released the list of candidates who have provisionally qualified to take the Skill Test.

SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Result 2025 : Exam and Posts

The SSC Stenographer Exam is one of the most popular exams in India for students who have learned shorthand. It is a gateway to working in the Central Government. The exam selects staff for two main levels:

Stenographer Grade ‘C’:
  • This is a Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted post. It is generally considered a higher-level post with a good salary. Candidates selected here often work in prestigious offices like the Ministry of External Affairs or the Ministry of Defence.
Stenographer Grade ‘D’:

Key Observations:

  • Grade C: The cut-off for the Unreserved (UR) category has actually dropped slightly in 2025 (142.42) compared to the very high score in 2024 (148.57).
  • Grade D: The competition remains very consistent. The UR cut-off is around 132, which is similar to previous years.

SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Result 2025 : Skill Test   

In this test, you will be given a dictation in either English or Hindi, based on what you chose in your application. The dictation lasts for 10 minutes.

  • For Grade ‘C’: The dictation speed is 100 words per minute (w.p.m).
  • For Grade ‘D’: The dictation speed is 80 words per minute (w.p.m).

Transcription Time: After writing down the dictation in shorthand, you will have to type (transcribe) it on a computer. The time allowed for this part is:

What is Next After the Result?

If your name is on the list, congratulations you have cleared the first major step. However, the selection process is not over. The next stage is the Skill Test in Stenography. This test is “qualifying in nature,” which means you don’t get marks that are added to your final score, but you must pass it to get the job.
