About the Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), is responsible for recruiting staff for various posts in the Government of India. Candidates can choose up to three examination centers in order of preference, and no changes will be allowed later. The SSC will endeavor to accommodate candidates’ preferences but reserves the right to allocate centers based on availability.

SSC MTS 2025: Eligibility Criteria

Nationality/Citizenship

To be eligible for the SSC MTS Recruitment 2025, a candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates falling under the latter three categories must submit a valid Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India during document verification.

Educational Qualification (As on 01-08-2025)

Candidates must have passed the Matriculation (10th Standard) or equivalent examination from a recognized board by 01-08-2025. Degrees, diplomas, or certificates obtained through Open and Distance Learning modes are also acceptable, provided they are approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission (UGC). Candidates must ensure that their educational certificates are valid and authentic during document verification, as any discrepancies may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Age Limit (As on 01-08-2025)

  • MTS Posts: Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years (born not before 02-08-2000 and not later than 01-08-2007). 
  • Candidates must be between 18 and 27 years for Department of Revenue and a few posts of MTS in various departments. 

The age is calculated based on the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary Examination Certificate. Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories as detailed above.

Reservation Policies

The SSC MTS Recruitment 2025 adheres to the Government of India’s reservation policies, ensuring inclusivity for various categories. The key reservation and age relaxation provisions are as follows:

  • Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST): 5 years of age relaxation.
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 years of age relaxation.
  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): Candidates must submit an Income and Asset Certificate for the financial year 2025-26.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD):
    • General/EWS: 10 years of age relaxation.
    • OBC: 13 years of age relaxation.
    • SC/ST: 15 years of age relaxation.
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years of age relaxation after deducting the period of military service from the actual age.
  • Defence Personnel (Disabled):
    • General: 3 years of age relaxation.
    • SC/ST: 8 years of age relaxation.
  • Central Government Civilian Employees:
    • General (with 3 years of regular service): Up to 40 years of age.
    • SC/ST (with 3 years of regular service): Up to 45 years of age.
  • Widows/Divorced Women/Judicially Separated Women (not remarried): Age relaxation applicable as per government norms.

The implementation of reservation policies and vacancy allocation is managed by the respective User Departments, and the SSC has no direct role in this process. Candidates claiming reservation benefits must submit valid certificates (e.g., SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/ESM certificates) during document verification. Failure to provide valid certificates may lead to the cancellation of candidature.

Disabilities Permitted for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

The MTS posts are suitable for candidates with the following benchmark disabilities:

  • Blindness and Low Vision (B, LV)
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D, HH)
  • Locomotor Disability (including One Arm Affected [OA], Both Arms Affected [BA], One Leg Affected [OL], Both Legs Affected [BL], One Arm and One Leg Affected [OAL], Cerebral Palsy [CP], Leprosy Cured [LC], Dwarfism [Dw], Acid Attack Victim [AAV], Muscular Dystrophy [MDy], Spinal Deformity/Spinal Injury [SD/SI] without neurological/limb dysfunction)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (Mild and Moderate), Intellectual Disability (ID), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), Mental Illness (MI)
  • Multiple Disabilities involving the above categories.

Functional Requirements for MTS posts include sitting, standing, walking, bending, reading and writing, seeing, hearing, and communication.

  • Correction Opportunities: Candidates can make corrections twice.

SSC MTS 2025: Application Process

Online Application

Applications must be submitted online through the SSC’s official website (https://ssc.gov.in) or the mySSC mobile application. Candidates are required to complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) before filling out the application form. OTRs generated on the old SSC website (https://ssc.nic.in) are not valid for the new website, and candidates must create a new OTR.

Aadhaar-Based Authentication is recommended to reduce the likelihood of application rejection due to photo or signature issues. Candidates who do not opt for Aadhaar authentication must provide alternative identity proofs, such as Voter ID, PAN Card, Driving License, or other government-issued IDs.

Photo and Signature Requirements

  • Photo: Candidates must capture a live photograph using the application module. The photo must be clear, without caps or glasses, and in a full frontal view with a plain background.
  • Signature: Must be uploaded in JPEG/JPG format (10-20 KB), with dimensions of 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height).

Applications with inappropriate or blurred photos/signatures may be rejected, except for those using Aadhaar authentication.

Salary for the post : The Candidates who are shortlisted for Multi-tasking Staff Post salaried with Pay Level -1 according to Pay Matrix of the 7th Pay Commission with basic pay of Rs. 5,200-20,200. The grade pay for the post is 1800 and in Hand Salary for the Candidates per month is aprrox 18,000 to 22 , 000 rupees. In addition to the salary there are some allowances like House Rent Allowances (HRA) , Travel Allowances (TA), Dearness Allowances (DRA) Offered to the candidates.

Selection Process for the Post : Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) Examination 2025 consists of three Stages . The Very first stage is Computer based examination (CBE) . Final merit will be based on this exam only . If you are qualified for the stage -1 , there will be PET (Physical Efficiency Test) only for the Havaldar post. Selection process Completes in following stages :

  • Document verification (DV)

Document Verification and Certificates

During Document Verification (DV), candidates must submit the following:

  • Matriculation/Secondary Certificate
  • Caste/Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS)
  • Disability Certificate (PwBD)
  • Ex-Serviceman Certificate (ESM)
  • Proof of Name Change (if applicable, e.g., Divorce Decree, Gazette Notification)
  • Photo ID Proof and two recent passport-size photographs

Failure to provide valid documents will result in cancellation of candidature. 

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Exam Pattern

The MTS recruitment process involves a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) consisting of two mandatory sessions conducted on the same day:

Session-I

Numerical and Mathematical Ability 20 questions (60 marks)
Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving 20 questions (60 marks)
Time 45 minutes, 60 minutes for candidates eligible for scribes
Negative Marking No

Session-II

General Awareness  25 questions (75 marks)
English Language and Comprehension 25 questions (75 marks)
Duration 45 minutes, 60 minutes for candidates eligible for scribes
Negative marking 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

All questions are objective-type (MCQs). Session-I performance is evaluated first, and Session-II is evaluated only for candidates who qualify in Session-I.

Scribe and Extra Time for PwBD Candidates

  • Scribe Facility: Provided for candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected), or cerebral palsy. Other PwBD/PwD candidates may avail a scribe upon submitting a medical certificate confirming physical limitations in writing.
  • Extra Time: Candidates using a scribe are entitled to an additional 20 minutes per hour during the examination.

Result

The results for the SSC MTS Examination, 2025, will be published on the official website of the Commission. The final merit list and selection will be based on performance in Session-II of the Computer Based Examination. To check the result, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official SSC website at https://ssc.gov.in.
  2. Navigate to the "Result" section on the homepage.
  3. Select the link for the "Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination, 2025 Result."
  4. The results will be available in PDF format, containing the roll numbers of the selected candidates.

The merit list will be prepared based on performance in Session-II of the Computer Based Examination, and candidates will be considered for the final merit list based on their preference for "post cum State/UT" exercised in the application form. For the post of MTS, there will be separate category-wise and State/UT-wise cut-offs.

Admit Card

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will issue Admission Certificates online for the Computer Based Examination. Candidates can download their Admission Certificate from the official SSC websites by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official SSC website at https://ssc.gov.in or the website of the relevant Regional Office.
  2. Information about the examination timetable and your assigned city/center will be uploaded approximately 10 days before the exam date.
  3. The facility to download your Admission Certificate will be made available about 2-3 days before the examination.
  4. Download and bring a printout of the Admission Certificate to the Examination Hall.

Important: No physical Admission Certificate will be sent by post. Candidates who have not completed Aadhaar-based authentication must also carry at least two recent passport-size color photographs and an original valid Photo ID with the same date of birth as on the admit card.

Preparation Tips For the Exam : 

As this exam is computer based examination (CBT) so  requires  effective time management . Candidates must follow these steps during their prepartion to get selected :

  • Students must create a time table and plan study sessions . Revise notes properly and frequently to make them sustain for the long time.
  • Students should understand exam pattern first and give enough mocks to understand type of questions and exam pattern.
  • After completing 70 % syllabus students are advised to give a mock per day and analysis it properly . Make a note book and note down all the questions that you have not solved in mock and try to find out solution for those questions.
  • In a week there should be a day fixed for the effective revision . On that day students should revise all the thing that he studied for the whole week .
  • Solve previous year questions as many as possible. Note down all the questions that you are not able to solve .
