    3. Date of birth, with the older candidate placed higher.
  • Post Allotment: The final allotment of posts is based on the merit-cum-preferences of posts/departments exercised by the candidates before the declaration of the final result. Once a post is allotted based on your preference and merit, no changes will be made.

The Date of Birth on your ID proof must exactly match the one on your Admission Certificate.

Preparation Tips

Here are some actionable preparation tips:

  1. Understand the Tiered Structure: Recognize that Tier-I is purely for shortlisting. Your final selection depends entirely on your aggregate score in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II. Plan your study efforts accordingly.
  2. Master the Qualifying Sections: The Computer Knowledge Test (Section-III) and the Skill/Typing Test (Section-IV) in Tier-II are mandatory but qualifying in nature. You must clear them, so dedicate regular practice time, especially for typing, to meet the required speed and accuracy.
  3. Be Mindful of Negative Marking: The penalty for wrong answers is significant—0.50 marks in Tier-I and a full 1 mark in Tier-II. This makes accuracy just as important as speed. Practice mock tests to learn how to avoid guesswork.
  4. Choose Your Language Medium Wisely: You will have to choose the medium for the Typing Test (Hindi or English) in the application form, and this choice is final. Similarly, you can choose the language for the exam questions (apart from English). Make this decision based on your proficiency.
  5. Stay Updated and Authentic: Regularly visit the official SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in) and the relevant regional office website for all updates. This is the only reliable source of information.
