The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam . This big exam is for getting good government jobs (Group ‘B’ and ‘C’). It is a great chance for young graduates to start a career in government service. The SSC CGL is a very popular and tough exam.  One of the best posts you can get through this exam is Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO) in the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The ED is a special government team that investigates big money-related crimes. As an AEO, your main job will be to use two important laws: the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). SSC CGL AEO Post : Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the AEO post, you must meet the education and age rules.

Educational Qualification : 

  • You must have a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university.
  • If you are in the final year of your graduation, you can also apply. But you must have your degree by August 1, 2025.
  • Degrees from Open and Distance Learning are also accepted if they are approved by UGC.

Age Limit :

  • Your age must be between 18 to 30 years.

Age Relaxation : 

Some categories get extra years on the age limit as per government rules.

SSC CGL AEO Post : Application Fee and Process

Application Fee :

  • The application fee is ₹100.
  • No fee for: Women, SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-servicemen (ESM) candidates.

Application Process :

  1. Apply Online: You can only apply on the official SSC website: https://ssc.gov.in.
  2. One-Time Registration (OTR): If you are a new user, you must first register. You will get a Registration Number and Password.
  3. Fill Application Form: Log in and click on the 'Apply' link for the "Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2025".
  4. Live Photograph: You will need to take a live photo with a webcam. Your face must be clear, with a plain background. Do not wear a cap, mask, or glasses.
  5. Upload Signature: Upload your signature in JPEG format (10 to 20 KB).
  6. Pay Fee: Pay the fee online using UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Card.
  7. Final Submit: Check your form carefully before submitting. After you submit, print a copy of the application form for your records.

SSC CGL AEO Post : Salary

The Assistant Enforcement Officer post is a Group 'B' job. The salary is based on Pay Level-7.

  • Pay Scale: ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400 per month.
  • In addition to this basic salary, you will also get extra money like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance (TA).

SSC CGL AEO Post :  Selection Process

There are two main steps (Tiers) to get selected.

  1. Tier-I Exam: This is a computer-based exam. It is only for selecting candidates for the next stage. Its marks are not used for the final selection.
  2. Tier-II Exam: This is the main computer-based exam. Your final selection depends on your marks in this exam.
  3. Document Verification (DV): If you are selected, the Enforcement Directorate will check all your original documents.
  4. Medical Examination: You will also have a medical test to check if you are fit for the job.

Your final selection is based on your total marks in the Tier-II Exam and the job choices you have given. 

SSC CGL AEO Post : Exam Pattern

Tier-I Exam Pattern : 

  • Type: All questions will have options to choose from (MCQ).
  • Language: The paper will be in both English and Hindi (except for the English part).
  • Negative Marking: For every wrong answer, 0.50 marks will be cut.

  • For the AEO post, you only need to give Paper-I.
  • Paper-I has two sessions on the same day.

Important Points for Tier-II:

  • You must pass in all sections of Paper-I.
  • Your final rank will be based on your total marks in Section-I and Section-II only.
  • The Computer and Data Entry tests are necessary to pass, but their marks are not added to the final total.

SSC CGL AEO Post : Syllabus

Tier-I Syllabus

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Topics like puzzles, coding-decoding, series, problem-solving.
  • General Awareness: Current events, India and its neighbors, history, culture, geography, economics, and science.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Topics like percentage, ratio, average, interest, profit & loss, time & work, basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • English Comprehension: English grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

Tier-II Syllabus

  • Mathematical Abilities: Same topics as Tier-I, but the questions will be harder.
  • Reasoning & General Intelligence: Harder questions on verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
  • English Language and Comprehension: Advanced vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and reading passages.
  • General Awareness: Same topics as Tier-I, but with more detail.
  • Computer Knowledge Test: Basic knowledge of computers, MS Office, internet, and cyber security.

 

SSC CGL AEO Post : Result

  • You can check your result on the official SSC website.
  • The final list of selected candidates will be based on the marks of the Tier-II Exam only.
  • You will get a post based on your rank and the choices you filled in the form. Once a post is given to you, it cannot be changed.

SSC CGL AEO Post : Admit Card

  • You can download your Admit Card from the SSC regional websites, usually 2-3 days before the exam.
  • You must bring a printed copy of the admit card to the exam hall.
  • Along with the admit card, you must also bring:
    • Two recent passport-size color photos.
    • An original photo ID card (like Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, etc.) with the same date of birth as on your admit card.

Preparation Tips : 

  1. First, understand all the topics for both Tier-I and Tier-II.
  2. Create a study plan that covers all subjects. Give more time to subjects you find difficult.
  3. Use standard books and good online material for your preparation.
  4. Solve old question papers to understand the exam pattern and question types.
  5. Take mock tests regularly. This will help you manage your time and improve your speed.
  6. Keep revising what you have studied. Make short notes for quick revision.
  7. Eat good food, sleep well, and exercise. A healthy body helps you study better.
