SSC Head Constable: Eligibility Criteria

To apply for this job, you must have certain qualifications for your education and age.

Educational Qualification

  • What you must have studied: You must have passed the 10+2 (Senior Secondary) exam or a similar qualification from an approved Board. You must have this qualification before the last date to apply, which is 20th October 2025.
  • Typing Skill Needed: You must be able to type at a certain speed in English or Hindi.
    • English Typing: 30 words per minute (w.p.m.).
    • Hindi Typing: 25 words per minute (w.p.m.).

SSC Head Constable: Age Limit

  • You must be between 18 and 25 years old on 1st July 2025.
  • This means you should be born after 2nd July 2000 but before 1st July 2007.
  • Some people can be older than 25 if they belong to special groups. The details are in the table below.

SSC Head Constable: Application Fee and Process

You can only apply online. You must send your form using the main SSC website.

  • Application Fee: The fee to apply is ₹100 (One Hundred Rupees).
  • Who does not have to pay: Women, and people from SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen groups do not have to pay the fee.
  • How to Pay: You can pay the fee online using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay).
  • How to Apply:
    1. Go to the new official SSC website: https://ssc.gov.in.
    2. If you are a new user, you must first do 'One-Time Registration' (OTR). You will need your mobile number, email ID, Aadhaar number, and school details.
    3. After OTR, log in. Find the 'Apply' link for the 'Head Constable (Ministerial) in Delhi Police Examination, 2025'.
    4. Fill in the application form. A lot of your information will be filled in for you from your OTR.
    5. The website will take your photo live. Make sure there is good light and a simple background. Do not wear a cap or glasses.
    6. Upload a picture of your signature (JPEG format, 10-20 KB).
    7. Check your form for any mistakes before you send it.
    8. Pay the fee online if you need to.
    9. After you submit the form, print it and keep it safe.

SSC Head Constable:  Salary

People who get the job will get a Pay Level-4 salary, according to the government's 7th Pay Commission rules.

  • Pay Level: Level-4
  • Pay Scale: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100

Along with the basic salary, you will also get other payments (allowances) like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance (TA).

SSC Head Constable: Selection Process

The hiring process has many steps. You must pass each step to go to the next one. The steps are in this order:

  1. Computer Based Examination (CBE): An online test with multiple-choice questions for 100 marks.
  2. Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT): A test to check if you are physically fit. You only need to pass it.
  3. Typing Test on Computer: A 25-mark test to check your typing speed.
  4. Computer (Formatting) Test: A test to check your basic computer skills, which you must pass.
  5. Document Verification and Medical Examination: The last step is to check your original papers and your health.

The final list of selected people will be made based on the marks you get in the Computer Based Examination and the Typing Test.

SSC Head Constable: Exam Pattern

The Computer Based Exam (CBE) is the first and main step. 

  • How the Exam is Taken: Online (on a computer)

  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Time: 90 minutes (1 hour and 30 minutes)
  • Negative Marking: For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be cut.
  • Language: You can take the test in English or Hindi.

SSC Head Constable: Syllabus

 

Subject  Syllabus
General Awareness This checks what you know about what is happening now and general things. Questions will be about India and its nearby countries, History, Culture, Geography, Indian Economy, Indian Government, the Indian Constitution, and Science.
Quantitative Aptitude  This is about basic math. Topics include Numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Percentage, Ratio, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Time and Distance, Time and Work, basic Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, and Charts.
General Intelligence  This has questions that test your thinking skills with words and pictures. Topics include finding similarities and differences, solving problems, making decisions, number series, and coding-decoding.
English Language  This checks your basic English. Topics include finding errors, filling blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spellings, idioms, one-word for many, improving sentences, active/passive voice, and understanding a passage.
Computer Knowledge This is about basic computer knowledge. Topics include MS Word, MS Excel, basics of E-mail, and the Internet (like websites, search engines, etc.).

Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT)

This test is to check if you are physically fit for the job. You only need to pass this test; the marks are not added to the final list. It has two parts: a physical endurance test (running, jumping) and a physical measurement test (height, chest).

Physical Measurement Test

For Men:

  • Height: 165 cms.
    • This is less by 5 cms for men from hill areas, ST category, and sons of Delhi Police staff.
  • Chest: 78 cms (and 82 cms when you breathe out).
    • This is less by 5 cms for men from hill areas, ST category, and sons of Delhi Police staff.

For Women:

  • Height: 157 cms.
    • This is less by 5 cms for women from hill areas, SC/ST category, and daughters of Delhi Police staff.

SSC Head Constable: Result

The exam result will be announced in parts on the official SSC website.

  • CBE Result: First, the result of the computer test will be announced. People who get more than the minimum marks will be chosen for the next step, the PE&MT.
  • Final Result: The final list is made based on the total marks from the Computer Based Exam (100 marks) and the Typing Test (25 marks).
  • If Marks are Equal: If two people get the same total marks, there is a tie breaking rule to decide who comes first. The person who is older will be chosen first.
  • Final Selection: The final list of people who are chosen for now will be put on the SSC website. These people will then have their papers checked and a medical test by the Delhi Police.

SSC Head Constable: Admit Card

The Admit Card is a very important paper you must have to take the test.

  • When it will be available: The admit card will be put on the official SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in) about 2-3 days before the exam.
  • How to get it: You must download it from the website with your registration number and password. It will not be mailed to your house.
  • What's on it: It will have important information like your roll number, exam date, time, and where your test center is.
  • What to bring to the exam: With your admit card, you must bring a real photo ID card (like Aadhaar, Voter ID) and two new passport-size photos.

Preparation Tips

  • First, understand the syllabus and how the exam works very well. This helps you know what to study.
  • Make a study plan that you can follow. Give enough time to every subject.
  • Learn the basic ideas of all subjects well, especially Math and English.
  • Practice with old question papers and take practice tests. This will help you become faster and more correct.
