Selection Process
The selection process is designed to be fair and based on merit.
- Preliminary Written Examination (The First Test): The BSSC is expecting a huge number of applications. If more than 40,000 people apply, a preliminary exam will be held first. This is a screening test to select the most serious candidates for the next round. The questions will be multiple-choice (objective type). If the exam is held in different shifts, a "normalization" process will be used. This is just a scientific way to make sure the scoring is fair for everyone, no matter if their paper was slightly easier or tougher.
- Main Written Examination (The Second and Final Test): Candidates who clear the preliminary exam will be invited for the main exam. The number of people called will be five times the total number of vacancies. So, for 3,727 jobs, around 18,635 candidates will take the main exam. The BSSC will release a separate notification with details about the main exam later on.
- Document Verification (Checking your papers): After you pass the main exam, you'll be called for document verification. Here, you'll need to present your original documents like your 10th-grade certificate, age proof, caste certificate (if applicable), etc. This is to confirm that all the information you provided in your application is true.

Important Things to Know About the Exam:
- Type of Questions: All 100 questions will be Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). For each question, you'll get four options and you have to pick the single correct answer.
- Marking Scheme (How you get points): This is very important to understand. You will get +4 marks for every correct answer. However, there is negative marking. For every wrong answer, -1 mark will be deducted from your total score.
- Language of the Exam: The question paper for General Arithmetic and General Knowledge will be available in both Hindi and English. If there's any confusion in a question, the English version will be considered the final one. The General Hindi paper will naturally be in Hindi only.
- Qualifying Marks (Minimum marks to pass): To be considered for the next stage, you need to score a minimum percentage: General Category - 40%, BC - 36.5%, EBC - 34%, SC/ST/Women/PwD - 32%. But remember, just scoring the minimum marks doesn't guarantee selection. You need to score high enough to make it to the merit list.
