All jobs are distributed in many railway zones and production units. The government’s reservation rules for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and other groups are strictly followed during recruitment.
RRB NTPC : Eligibility Criteria
Everyone who wants to apply should first check if they meet the eligibility requirements. These rules decide who can and cannot apply for the different RRB NTPC posts.
RRB NTPC : Educational Qualification
- Graduate Level NTPC posts: Must have a college/university degree recognized by the government, on or before the last date to apply.
- Undergraduate Level NTPC posts: Must have passed at least 12th standard or its equivalent from a recognized board/institution as on the last date to apply.
RRB NTPC : Age Limit
- Graduate Level Posts: Minimum age is 18 years; maximum age is 33 years.
- Undergraduate Level Posts: Minimum age is 18 years; maximum age is 30 years.
There is age relaxation for candidates from SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and other special categories, as per Railway Board rules.
RRB NTPC : Application Fee and Process
Applying for RRB NTPC is done online, and candidates need to pay an application fee. Here are some important details
Application Fee
- General/OBC Candidates: ₹500
- SC/ST/PH/Ex-Servicemen/Female/Transgender/Minorities/EWS: ₹250
If candidates appear for the CBT exam, the fee is usually refunded according to official norms.
Application Process
- Applications can only be sent online through regional RRB websites.
- Candidates must register on the site, fill in personal and education details, upload documents (such as photo, signature, certificates), and pay the fee online.
- The application window is open only for the period mentioned in official notifications.
- Reservation rules are followed strictly, and only the approved number of vacancies will be filled.
- It is wise to fill the form carefully to avoid mistakes, and save or print copies for future reference
Salary Structure
Indian Railways offer good salaries for NTPC Graduate Level posts. All pay is based on the 7th Central Pay Commission’s (CPC) pay matrix.

Other allowances like DA (Dearness Allowance), TA (Travel Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), and more are given as per Railway rules. The exact total pay depends on where the candidate is posted.
Selection Process
Candidates are chosen through several stages. Every stage tests a different skill or ability, to make sure good, qualified people are selected
- Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT-I)
- This is the first screening test.
- Questions are on general awareness, reasoning, and basic intelligence.
- Stage 2: Computer-Based Test (CBT-II)
- Only candidates who clear CBT-I can take this test.
- This test has tougher questions about the job and required skills.
- Skill Test/Typing Test/Document Verification
- For some posts, candidates need to show their skills (like typing speed).
- Important documents will be checked for final eligibility.
- Medical Examination
- All selected candidates must pass a medical test as per railway standards.
A final merit list is made based on all the tests, and reservation rules are applied.
