Vacancy Details

In the 2025 notification, RRB has announced a total of 2,570 tentative vacancies for different technical and material-related positions. These vacancies are divided across various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) of India.

Eligibility – Educational Qualification and Age Limit

Before applying, it is important to confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements for the post.

Educational Qualification

  • For Junior Engineer (JE): Candidates must have a Diploma or Degree in Engineering related to the post they are applying for (like Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.).
  • For Depot Material Superintendent (DMS): Candidates should hold a Diploma or Degree in Engineering from a recognized university or institution.
  • For Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA): Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc) with Physics and Chemistry as main subjects.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 33 years (as on 01.01.2026)

Age relaxation will be given to candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC, Ex-servicemen, and others as per government rules. Candidates should check the official notification for complete details.

Application Fee and Process

Application Fee

The application fee varies according to category:

Refunds will be given after participating in the Computer-Based Test (CBT-1):

  • General category: ₹400 will be refunded.
  • SC/ST/EWS/OBC/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Ex-servicemen: Full ₹250 will be refunded.

  • Applications must be submitted online only through the official RRB regional website.
  • Aadhaar details are verified during registration, so ensure your name, date of birth, and details match your Aadhaar and 10th certificate.
  • Upload a clear, recent photo and scan of your signature.
  • Review your information carefully before submitting.
  • Save or print your application form and payment receipt to keep for future use or verification.

Salary

The salary for RRB JE, DMS, and CMA posts follows the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations.

  • Pay Level: Level-6
  • Initial Pay: Rs. 35,400 per month

Selection Process

CBT 1 Syllabus

Mathematics:
Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, Ratio & Proportion, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Time, Speed & Distance, Average, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit & Loss, and Age Problems.

General Intelligence & Reasoning:
Analogies, Coding-Decoding, Puzzles, Venn Diagrams, Syllogisms, Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning.

General Awareness:
Current Events (National & International), Indian Geography, History, Polity, Economy, Sports, and General Science updates.

General Science:
Basic Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (up to Class 10th level).

CBT 2 Syllabus

General Awareness:
Latest national and international news, Indian economy, environmental issues, science and technology updates, and sports news.

Physics & Chemistry:
Concepts of Class 10th and 12th standards like motion, energy, atomic structure, chemical reactions, etc.

Basics of Computers and Applications:
Computer hardware and software, networking basics, MS Office tools, Internet usage, and cybersecurity topics.

Basics of Environment & Pollution Control:
Types of pollution, causes, effects, and control measures. Basic environmental science.

Technical Abilities:
Subject-specific topics from your branch 

  • Civil Engineering: Building materials, surveying, construction technology
  • Electrical Engineering: Circuits, machines, power systems
  • Mechanical Engineering: Thermodynamics, mechanics, manufacturing
  • Computer Science/IT: Programming, algorithms, databases, networks

Result

  • RRB will declare the results for each CBT stage separately on its regional websites.
  • Results are released in PDF format with the roll numbers or names of selected candidates.
  • Candidates who clear both CBTs will be invited for document verification and medical examination.
  • Final merit lists will be prepared after successful completion of all stages.

Admit Card

  • Admit cards will be available online on the respective RRB websites around 10 days before the exam.
