Introduction

The Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Examination 2025 is a big recruitment process conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC). In this recruitment, the commission will hire 1799 Police Sub-Inspectors for different districts in Bihar.

Eligibility – Educational Qualification and Age Limit

Educational Qualification

  • You must have a Bachelor's Degree from any recognized university.
  • If you have equivalent qualification as per the notification dated September 15, 2025, you are also eligible.

Age Limit (as on August 1, 2025)

  • Minimum Age: 20 years
  • Maximum Age: 37 years (for General category)
  • Relaxation in age will be given to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Bihar government rules.

The upper age relaxations as of August 1, 2025, are as follows:

  • General / Other Categories: ₹100
  • Reserved Categories: No fee (as per government rules)

Application Process

  1. Go to the official BPSSC website:

  3. Register using your details.
  4. Fill the form carefully.
  5. Upload required documents such as a passport-size photo and signature.
  6. Pay the application fee online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card or UPI.
  7. Download and save the acknowledgement slip with your unique registration number. Print it for later use.

Salary

  • Salary will be as per Bihar Police Pay Scale in Level 7 of the Pay Matrix: ₹35,400 - 1,12,400
  • Other benefits like allowances, leave, pension, and medical facilities will be given according to Bihar government rules.

Exam Pattern with Marks, Questions & Time

The Bihar Police SI selection involves two written exams and a physical test stage. 

Preliminary Exam

Each question carries 2 marks.

  • Negative marking: -0.2 per wrong answer.
  • Purpose: To shortlist candidates for the Mains exam.(Qualifying Nature)

Main Exam

The mains exam has two papers:

Paper 1 is qualifying only; minimum 30% required to pass.

  • Paper 2 marks count for merit.

  • Total mains marks: 400

Physical Standard Details (PST)

The Physical Standard Test measures basic physical eligibility as follows:

Candidates must meet the minimum height and chest requirements; failure to meet these leads to disqualification.

Note :- Minimum weight for women is 48 kg.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Details

The Physical Efficiency Test tests stamina and strength:

Result

  • Results will be uploaded on the official BPSSC website.
  • Use your roll number or registration details to check.
  • The final merit list will be based on your scores in the exams and performance in the physical tests.

  • The admit card will be available online on the BPSSC website.
  • To download, enter your registration details.
  • Carry the admit card and a valid ID proof to the exam center.
