Salary Structure

The post carries a handsome salary package along with government allowances.

  • Pay Level: Level 3 (As per 7th Pay Commission)
  • Pay Scale: ₹21,700 — ₹69,100
  • Allowances: In addition to basic pay, selected candidates will be entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Medical Allowance, and other allowances as per Bihar Government rules.

As per the new resolution, the application fee is standard for this recruitment:

Selection Process

Crucial Update: Unlike previous constable recruitments where the merit list was based on Physical tests, for the Special Branch Constable (01/2026), the Final Merit List will be based on the Written Exam.

The selection process consists of three stages:

  1. Written Examination (Two Papers) - Basis of Merit
  2. Physical Standards Test (PST) - Qualifying Only
  3. Document Verification

Note: There is NO Physical Efficiency Test (PET). This means there is no running, high jump, or shot put involved in this specific recruitment.

Exam Pattern (Written Test)

The written exam will correspond to the 10th Class (Matric) level. There will be two papers.

  • Type: Objective (OMR Based)
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30% in both papers individually.

Paper 1 (100 Marks | 90 Minutes)

  2. English Grammar, Comprehension & Translation (30 Marks)

Merit List Preparation

  • The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Written Examination (Paper 1 + Paper 2 consolidated).
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks for Merit:
    • General: 40%
    • BC: 36.5%
    • EBC: 34%
    • SC/ST/Women: 32%

Detailed Syllabus

The written examination for the Bihar Police Special Branch Constable recruitment consists of two papers. The level of the examination is based on the Bihar School Examination Board's 10th Grade (Matriculation) or equivalent standard.

Both papers are objective-type (OVR-based) and follow the same marking structure:

  • Duration: 90 minutes per paper.

  • Total Questions: 100 questions per paper.

  • Total Marks: 100 marks per paper.

  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Paper I: Reasoning and Languages

This paper is designed to test your logical thinking and command over Hindi and English.

  • Logical & Analytical Ability (Reasoning): 50 Marks

Paper II: General Studies and Aptitude

Important Passing Criteria

  • Merit List: The final merit list for successful candidates will be prepared based on the consolidated marks obtained in these two written papers.

Result & Medical Examination

The results will be declared in the following sequence:

  1. Written Exam Result: The CSBC will publish a list of candidates who have qualified for the Physical Standards Test (PST).
  2. Final Merit List: After the PST and Document Verification are complete, the Final Merit List will be declared on the CSBC website. This list is based strictly on marks obtained in the Written Examination.
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates who make it to the Final Merit List will undergo a Medical Examination (checking for colour blindness, hearing, etc.) before their final appointment letter is issued.

Admit Card

 

  • Will be available online a few weeks before the written test.
  • Visit the CSBC website regularly for updates.
  • Bring admit card and valid photo ID to the exam center.
