4. Selection Process
The Bihar Police Constable selection process consists of three major stages:
Written Examination
The written exam is qualifying in nature. Although it is compulsory to clear, the marks obtained here do not contribute to the Final Merit List. Its purpose is to shortlist candidates for the PET stage.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
This is the most vital stage. The Final Merit List is prepared solely on the basis of the marks obtained in the PET. The PET includes:
| Running (50 Marks): | Male candidates must complete 1.6 km, and female candidates must complete 1 km. The faster the candidate completes the distance, the higher the marks awarded. |
| Shot Put (25 Marks): | Shot put distance determines the marks. Better throws earn higher points. |
| High Jump (25 Marks): | Marks are given based on the height cleared during the high jump attempt. |
Document Verification (DV)
DV is conducted on the same day as the PET. Candidates must produce all required documents; failure to provide any document results in disqualification.
