Delhi के Revenue Department में Patwari की कमी को दूर करने के लिए भर्ती के नियमों में बहुत बड़ा बदलाव किया गया है। LG तरणजीत सिंह संधू ने पटवारी पद के नए नियमों को मंजूरी दे दी है। विभाग में कुल 230 पद हैं, लेकिन इनमें से सिर्फ 60 कर्मचारी ही काम कर रहे हैं और करीब 170 पद खाली पड़े हैं। लगभग 74 प्रतिशत पद खाली होने की वजह से विभाग के काम-काज पर असर पड़ रहा था। पहले नियम कड़े होने के कारण और एक साल का कंप्यूटर डिप्लोमा मांगने की वजह से योग्य उम्मीदवार नहीं मिल पा रहे थे।
अब नए नियमों के तहत कंप्यूटर डिप्लोमा की Compulsion को खत्म कर दिया गया है। अब किसी भी विषय से Graduate पास करने वाले उम्मीदवार इन पदों के लिए आवेदन कर सकेंगे। साथ ही, जो नए कर्मचारी चुने जाएंगे, उन्हें विभाग की तरफ से कंप्यूटर, Survey और नक्शे से जुड़ा तीन महीने का खास Training दिया जाएगा।

पुराने नियमों के अनुसार, Patwari पद के लिए किसी मान्यता प्राप्त बोर्ड से 12वीं पास होना और Mathematics विषय होना जरूरी था। इसके साथ ही एक साल का Computer Diploma भी होना Mandatory था। इसके अलावा Graduation Degree , Survey या Mapping में डिप्लोमा और एक साल का Field Experience जैसी अतिरिक्त योग्यताएं भी तय थीं।
नए नियमों के आने से अब इन सभी Complications को खत्म कर दिया गया है। अब किसी भी मान्यता प्राप्त यूनिवर्सिटी से किसी भी विषय में Graduate करने वाले उम्मीदवार इसके लिए Apply कर सकेंगे। इसके अलावा एक साल के कंप्यूटर डिप्लोमा की Requirement को भी पूरी तरह हटा दिया गया है। जो नए कर्मचारी चुने जाएंगे, उन्हें विभाग की तरफ से कंप्यूटर, Survey और Mapping का तीन महीने का Training दिया जाएगा।
