It is important to understand that CTET is not a job offer. It is an exam that gives you a certificate. You need this certificate to apply for teaching jobs in:

  • Central Government schools (like Kendriya Vidyalaya).
  • Schools in Union Territories (like Delhi or Chandigarh).
  • Private schools.

CTET Exam Date 2026 Out : Eligibility Criteria 

To apply, you need specific degrees or diplomas in education.

  • Paper I: For those who want to teach Classes 1 to 5.
  • Paper II: For those who want to teach Classes 6 to 8.

Age Limit:

There is no age limit. You can take this exam as many times as you want to pass or to improve your score.

CTET Exam Date 2026 Out : Education Qualifications

CTET Paper 1 (Classes 1-5) Candidates must fulfill any one of the following criteria:
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (in accordance with NCTE Regulations, 2002).
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
CTET Paper 2 (Classes 6-8) Candidates must fulfill any one of the following criteria:
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Post-graduation with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent) and a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
  • Candidates possessing a qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE are also eligible.

CTET Exam Date 2026 Out : Salary

Since CTET is a certificate and not a job, there is no fixed salary. However, if you get a job in a Central Government school using this certificate

  • Primary Teachers: Approx. Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month.
  • Trained Graduate Teachers: Approx. Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month.

CTET Exam Date 2026 Out : Selection Process

There is only one written exam.

  • Passing Marks: You need to score 60% or more (90 marks out of 150 for UR) to pass.
  • Relaxation: Schools may lower the passing marks for SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled candidates based on their own rules.

The exam has multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The best part is there is no negative marking (you do not lose marks for wrong answers).

Child Development:
  • How children grow and learn.
  • Thinkers like Piaget and Vygotsky.
  • Inclusive education (teaching children with special needs).
Languages (I & II):
  • Reading comprehension (understanding passages and poems).
  • Pedagogy: How to teach languages to children.
Mathematics:
  • Topics: Geometry, Numbers, Addition, Subtraction, Time, Money, Data Handling. (Paper II adds Algebra and Ratio).
  • Teaching: How to explain math concepts to students.
Environmental Studies (Paper I only):
  • Family, Food, Water, Shelter, Travel, Plants, and Animals.
Science (Paper II only):
  • Food, Materials, Moving Things, Magnets, Electric Circuits.
Social Studies (Paper II only):
  • History: Early societies, Freedom movement, First cities.
  • Geography: The Earth, Solar system, Agriculture.
  • Social & Political Life: Government, Democracy, Constitution.

Tips for Preparation

  1. Read NCERT Books: The exam questions are based on NCERT books for Classes 1 to 8.
  2. Practice Old Papers: The exam pattern usually stays the same. Practicing past papers helps a lot.
  3. Learn How to Teach: Half the questions are about “Pedagogy” (the method of teaching). Don’t just learn facts; learn how to teach them.
  4. Watch the Clock: You have 150 minutes for 150 questions. That is exactly one minute per question.

Admit Card

The admit card is a very important document. You cannot enter the examination hall without it.

  • You can download the e-Admit Card from the CTET official website.
  • It will be available for download two days before the examination date.
  • If there is any mistake on your admit card (like your name, photo, or signature), you must contact the CTET Unit immediately for corrections before the exam.

Result

  • The result is tentatively scheduled to be declared by the end of March 2026.
  • CBSE will provide mark sheets and eligibility certificates in Digital Format in your DigiLocker account.
  • These digital documents will be legally valid and will have an encrypted QR code for security.
  • Your DigiLocker account credentials will be sent to the mobile number you registered with CBSE.
