The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is looking for male citizens from India to join as drivers. There are two types of jobs you can apply for:

  1. Constable/Driver
  2. Constable/Driver-Cum-Pump-Operator (DCPO) (This is a driver for fire trucks)

These jobs are temporary at first, but they will most likely become permanent jobs later on.

If you get selected, your salary will be in Pay Level-3 (which is Rs. 21,700 – 69,100). You will also get other benefits and allowances, just like other Central Government employees. You will also get a pension under the “National Pension System” (NPS).

 

You only need to fill out one application form for both jobs. In the form, you must choose which job is your first choice (1st preference) and which is your second choice (2nd preference). You cannot change this choice later, so please choose carefully.

You must apply online. No other way (like post) is allowed. To get the job, you will have to pass a few tests:

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – like running, jumping
  • Physical Standard Test (PST) – like height, chest measurement
  • Documentation – checking your papers
  • Trade Test – a driving test
  • Written Exam
  • Medical Exam

You must pass all these stages. Your final selection will depend on the marks you get in the Written Exam. Please keep checking the official CISF website for all news and updates. Your admit card will also come on this website. It will not be sent to your home by post.

Vacancy Details

In total, there are 1124 jobs (vacancies). This number might change (increase or decrease) later. The jobs are divided among different groups of people.

  • UR means Un-Reserved (for everyone)
  • SC means Scheduled Caste
  • ST means Scheduled Tribe
  • OBC means Other Backward Class
  • EWS means Economically Weaker Section
  • ESM means Ex-Servicemen (people who were in the Army, Navy, or Air Force). 10% of jobs are saved for ESM.

 Eligibility Criteria

You must have all these qualifications on the last date (04/03/2025).

  • You must be a citizen of India.
  • Only men (males) can apply.

Education:

  • You must have passed Matriculation (10th class) from a recognized board.

Driving License:

  • You must have a valid driving license for three types of vehicles:
    1. Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) or Transport Vehicle (like a truck or bus)
    2. Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) (like a car)
    3. Motorcycle with gear

Experience:

  • You must have 3 years of experience in driving.
  • This experience includes driving all the vehicles mentioned above.
  • Your 3 years of experience will be counted from the day you got your LMV (car) license.

Age Limit:

  • Your age must be between 21 and 27 years old on 04/03/2025.
  • This means you must not be born before 05/03/1998 and not after 04/03/2004.

Age Relaxation 

For some groups, the upper age limit of 27 years can be relaxed.

OBC (Other Backward Class) 3 years (up to 30 years old)
Government Servants (including CISF persons) Up to 40 years (for Gen/EWS/OBC)

Up to 45 years (for SC/ST)

Ex-Servicemen (ESM) 3 years after your military service is subtracted
Children/dependents of victims of 1984 or 2002 riots 5 years (up to 32 years old)

Application Fee and Process 

How much is the fee? There is a small fee to apply.

  • You can pay the fee online (using Net Banking, Cards, UPI) or with cash (by making an SBI Challan).
  • If you pay the fee once, you will not get it back.

How to Apply: You must apply online. Here is how:

Part 1: One-Time Registration (Do this only once)

  1. Go to the official website: https://cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in.
  2. Click on the "Login" button.
  3. Click on the "NEW REGISTRATION" button.
  4. Fill in your details like your Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, and Date of Birth. Please make sure these are exactly the same as in your 10th class certificate.
  5. Enter your mobile number and email ID.
  6. You will get a Registration Number and Password on your mobile and email. Keep them safe.

Part 2: Filling the Application Form

  1. Log in to the website with your new Registration Number and Password.
  2. Find and click on the link that says "Constable (Driver & DCPO) - 2024".
  3. Fill in all the details it asks for.
  4. This is where you will choose your 1st and 2nd preference (which job you want more).
  5. Upload the documents it asks for.
  6. Pay the application fee (if you have to).
  7. Check all your details one last time. If everything is correct, click "Final Submission".
  8. Please take a printout of your filled application form for your records.

What to Upload:

  • Your Photo: A recent colour photo (not more than 3 months old). The date you took the photo must be clearly printed on it. The photo size should be 20 KB to 50 KB (JPEG).
  • Your Signature: A scan of your signature. The size should be 10 KB to 20 KB (JPEG).
  • Your Documents: A scan of your 10th class certificate (to check your age and education). The size should be less than 1 MB (PDF).

Salary

If you are selected, you will get a monthly salary.

  • Pay Level: Level-3
  • Pay Scale: Rs. 21,700 – 69,100
  • Other Benefits: You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits, just like all Central Government employees.

 Selection Process 

There are a few steps to get this job. You must pass every step.

Step 1: Height Bar Test (HBT)

  • First, they will check if you have the minimum height required for the job.

Step 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • If your height is okay, you will go to the PET. This test is to check your fitness.
  • You must pass all three events. If you fail in even one, you will be out of the selection.
  • (Ex-Servicemen do not have to do this test).

Step 3: Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • After passing the PET, your height, chest, and weight will be measured properly.
Category Height Chest
General, EWS, SC, and OBC 167 Cms 80 Cms (minimum). Must expand 5 Cms (to 85 Cms).
People from hills (Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas) and states like HP, J&K, Sikkim, North-East 160 Cms 78 Cms (minimum). Must expand 5 Cms (to 83 Cms).
All ST (Scheduled Tribes) candidates 160 Cms 76 Cms (minimum). Must expand 5 Cms (to 81 Cms).
Ex-Servicemen (ESM) No minimum height/chest. They will only record it.

Eye Sight :

a) Visual Acuity unaided (Near Vision)

Better eye – N6

Worse eye – N6

b) Uncorrected visual acuity (Distant Vision)

Better eye – 6/6

Worse eye – 6/6

c) Refraction

Visual correction of any kind is not permitted even by glasses.

d) Colour Vision : CP II by ISIHARA

Remarks : Binocular vision is required

Tattoos : Following criteria has been fixed to determine permissibility of Tattoo :

a) Content : Tattoo depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted.

b) Location : Tattoo marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm, but only left forearm, being non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed.

c) Size : Must be less than 1/4 of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.

Step 4: Documentation (Checking Your Papers)

  • After the PST, you must show all your original certificates and documents.
  • What to bring: 10th certificate, Date of birth proof, all 3 Driving Licenses (HMV, LMV, Motorcycle), Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), Domicile certificate (if you need height/chest relaxation), Discharge certificate (for ESM), and a Photo ID proof.
  • If you forget to bring any original document, you will be rejected.

Step 5: Trade Test (Your Driving Test)

  • If your documents are all correct, you will give a driving test.
  • This test is only for qualifying. The marks will not be added to your final result. But you must pass it.

Step 6: Written Examination

  • If you pass the driving test, you will be called for the written exam.
  • This will be a test on paper (OMR) or on a computer (CBT). This is the most important test for your final selection.

Step 7: Medical Examination

  • Based on your marks in the written exam, a list will be made. If your name is on the list, you will be called for a medical check-up.
  • The doctors will check if you are medically fit for the job.
  • Your eyesight must be 6/6 (perfect) without glasses. You must not have problems like knock knees or flat feet.
  • If the doctor says you are "UNFIT", you can ask for a "Review Medical Examination" (RME) to get checked again.

 Exam Pattern 

  • How: On paper (OMR) or on a computer (CBT).
  • Language: Questions will be in both English and Hindi.
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (One question, four options).
  • Total Time: 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • Total Questions: 100 questions.
  • Total Marks: 100 marks. (Each question is for 1 mark).
  • Negative Marking: There is NO negative marking.

Minimum Passing Marks (in Written Exam):

  • UR / EWS / Ex. Servicemen: You need at least 35% (35 marks out of 100).
  • SC / ST / OBC: You need at least 33% (33 marks out of 100). (Please note: Just getting these minimum marks does not mean you will be selected. A final cut-off list will be made based on the highest scores.)

Syllabus

  1. General Knowledge / Awareness:
    • Study about current events (what is happening in the news). Read about India and its neighbours, sports, history, geography, and basic science from your 10th class books.
  2. Basic Mathematics:
    • Practice math problems from your 10th class level. This includes topics like number systems, percentages, profit and loss, time and work, time and distance, and simple math.
  3. Analytical Aptitude (Reasoning):
    • This tests your thinking skills. Practice questions on patterns, number series, "find the odd one out," and solving simple problems.
  4. Ability to Observe and Distinguish (Reasoning):
    • This is also a part of reasoning. It tests how well you can see differences between pictures or patterns.
  5. Basic English / Hindi:
    • This will check your basic language skills. Study basic grammar, word meanings (vocabulary), and how to fill in the blanks from your 10th class books.

Results

  • Your final selection depends only on the marks you get in the Written Examination.
  • (But, you must have passed all the other stages first, like PET, PST, driving test, and medical test).
  • A final list will be made for each category (UR, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, ESM).
  • You will get the job (Constable/Driver or Constable/DCPO) based on your marks and the 1st/2nd preference you filled in your form.

What if two people get the same marks? (Tie Case) If there is a tie, they will check these things (in this order):

  1. The person who is older will get the higher rank.
  2. If the age is also the same, the person who is taller will get the higher rank.
  3. If the height is also the same, the person with a higher educational qualification (like 12th pass or graduate) will get the higher rank.
  4. If that is also the same, the person whose name comes first in the alphabet (e.g., Amit before Sunil) will get the higher rank.
  • The final result will be put on the CISF website: https://cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in.
  • There will be no "waiting list".

Admit Card (Your Entry Ticket)

  • Your admit card (or hall ticket) will NOT be sent to your home by post.
  • You must download it from the official website: https://cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in.
  • Please keep checking the website for news about when to download it.
  • When you go to the test center, you must bring these things with you:
    1. A printout of your Admit Card.
    2. Four (4) recent passport-size colour photos (with the date printed on them).
    3. One original Photo ID proof (like your AADHAAR Card, Voter ID, or Driving License).

Preparation Tips 

The official notice gives this advice:

  • Practice for PET: Please practice running, long jump, and high jump every day before you come for the test.
  • Get a Check-up: It is a good idea to visit a doctor and check if you are fit enough to run 800 meters.
  • You are Responsible: You will be taking part in the tests at your own risk. CISF will not be responsible if you get hurt.
  • Plan Your Stay: When you are called for the tests, you might have to stay for 2-3 days. Please make your own arrangements for food and hotel. You will not be paid any money for your travel or stay.
