Salary and Allowances
A career with the BSF offers more than just pride; it comes with a good salary and great benefits. As a Constable (GD) under the Sports Quota, your pay will be based on the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
- Pay Level: You'll be placed in Level-3 of the Pay Matrix.
- Basic Pay Scale: This ranges from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month.
- Other Allowances: On top of your basic pay, you'll receive allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), Ration Money, and House Rent Allowance (HRA), just like other Central Government employees.
- Pension: You will be covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).
Selection Process
Your selection is based on your athletic prowess and physical fitness. The process unfolds in these stages:
- First, all online applications are reviewed. If you meet the criteria, you'll get an online admit card.
- You’ll need to present all original documents—age, education, caste, and sports certificates—for verification. Your identity will also be confirmed with biometrics.
- Once your documents are cleared, you’ll go through the PST to ensure you meet the required physical standards for height, chest, and weight.
- A merit list is created based solely on the marks awarded for your sports achievements. Your rank on this list determines if you move to the next stage.
- If you're shortlisted, you'll undergo a comprehensive medical check-up to ensure you're fit for the demands of the force.
- If you're declared unfit in the DME, you have the right to appeal for a re-examination (RME) within 24 hours. The decision from the RME board is final.
