Selection Process

There is no written exam for this entry.

  1. Shortlisting: First, the Army will look at everyone's JEE (Mains) 2025 rank. They will decide a "cut-off" rank. Only people with a rank better than the cut-off will be called for the next step.
  2. SSB Interview: If you are shortlisted, you will go to an SSB interview. This is a 5-day test (in places like Prayagraj, Bhopal, etc.) to check your personality, intelligence, and if you are officer material.
  3. Medical Exam: If you pass the 5-day SSB, you will have a full medical check-up.
  4. Final Merit List: A final list is made. This list is based ONLY on your score in the 5-day SSB interview. Your JEE score is only for getting the interview call; it does not count for the final merit list.

Exam Pattern

According to the official notification, the final selection of the candidates in the Indian Army TES Result will be done based on the marks obtained in the shortlisting, SSB Interview, and Medical Exam. Hence with the intention to help the candidates in the right direction, we have shared below the details of the selection process in a detailed manner.

Stage 1: Shortlisting

The first selection stage is the shortlisting of the candidates and it is done via the integrated HQ of MOD. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the score obtained by them in the Class 12th (10+2) exam. According to the latest update, JEE Mains score will be compulsory for the candidates applying for TES 54. The authorities fix the cut-off accordingly and the candidates who will secure more than or equivalent to the cut-off marks will be shortlisted for the further selection process.

Stage 2: SSB Interview

The second stage of the Indian Army 10+2 TES-54 selection process is the SSB Interview that is conducted for 5 days. The second stage comprises five substages and the details of each stage are shared below:

Stage 2A: Screening

The first stage of the SSB Interview is screening in which candidates are assessed based on the following tests i.e

  • Intelligence Test
  • Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT)

In case the candidates fail in the screening test, then they will have to return on the same day.

Stage 2B: Psychological Test

The second stage of SSB Interview is a Psychological Test in which the mental ability of the candidates is assessed through the following stages i.e

  • Thematic Apperception Test
  • Word Association Test
  • Situation Reaction Test
  • Self Description Test

Stage 2C: GTO

The third selection round is the GTO (Group Testing Office) round and it is not an easy stage as it includes mental and physical assessment of the candidates. Candidates are required to qualify for each round mentioned below:

  • Group Discussion
  • Group Planning Exercise
  • Progressive Group Task Activity
  • Half Group Task
  • Individual Obstacle Task
  • Command Task
  • Snake race/Group Obstacle Race
  • Individual Lecturette
  • Final Group Task

Stage 2D: Personal Interview

The fourth selection stage is the SSB Interview round and it assesses the overall IQ levels of the candidates. The questions asked in the interview round would be related to the details they have submitted in the application form i.e academic background, knowledge of current issues in the country.

Stage 2E: Conference

The fifth and the last selection round is a conference and it is like a final assessment before sending them to the next round i.e medical examination. This round assesses whether the candidates are suitable to join the training period and further process.

Stage 3: Medical Examination

The third and final round of the Indian Army TES selection process is the Medical Examination wherein the shortlisted candidates will be checked if they are medically fit for the role. Candidates will have to stay in any of the military hospitals during the examination. In case, the candidates are declared unfit by the medical board team, then they can challenge and reappear for the medical exam. The candidates who are declared fit will be issued a joining letter of training on a merit basis depending on the availability of vacancies.
