Assam Rifels: Preparation Tips

  • Master the Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Start running daily. Male candidates (except the Ladakh region) need to cover 2.4 Kms in 12 to 14 minutes depending on age. Female candidates need to cover 1.6 Kms in 8.30 to 9.30 minutes. Build your stamina gradually and time your runs using a stopwatch.
  • Hone Your Trade Skills: If you are applying for Havildar Clerk, practice your typing daily on a computer to ensure you comfortably cross the 35 WPM (English) or 30 WPM (Hindi) mark. For technical roles like Electrician or Mechanic, get hands-on practice with circuits, generators, or vehicle engines to confidently pass the practical aptitude test.
  • Pre-Medical Checkup: Do not wait for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) to find out about easily correctable issues. Get a preliminary checkup under your own arrangements to ensure you do not have knock knees, flat feet, or vision issues. If you have tattoos, ensure they comply with the strict size and location policies (e.g., must be on the inner aspect of the left forearm and less than 1/4th the size of the limb).
  • Organize Your Documents: Keep all your original documents ready well in advance. This includes your educational certificates, domicile/permanent residence certificate, caste certificate, ITI/Diploma certificates, and a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, or Driving License). Discrepancies in documents can lead to immediate rejection
