APPSC TGT: Preparation Tips

  1. Master Your Core Subject (Paper 2) Since Paper 2 carries 300 out of the 450 written marks, your graduation subject is your biggest asset. Revisit your university textbooks and clear your basic concepts. Since you need a minimum Second-Class degree, the questions will likely reflect a moderate to high level of graduation-standard difficulty.
  2. Do Not Ignore the Qualifying Criteria The APPSC enforces strict qualifying cut-offs. You must secure at least 20% in each paper and an aggregate of 33% overall to even be considered for the interview. Do not neglect Paper 1 while preparing for Paper 2; failing to meet the baseline in General Studies and Pedagogy will result in disqualification, regardless of your subject mastery.
  3. Practice Precision (Beware of Negative Marking) With a $1/6th$ negative marking penalty for every incorrect answer, guesswork can be highly detrimental. When taking mock tests, practice the art of skipping questions you are entirely unsure about to protect your total score.
  4. Focus Heavily on Pedagogy For teaching exams, Pedagogy is a high-scoring segment. Review your B.Ed (General) curriculum, specifically focusing on child development, modern teaching aids, and secondary school curriculum design.
  5. Prepare for Classroom Teaching (Viva-Voce) The final stage is not just an interview but also includes “Classroom Teaching” worth 50 marks. Once your written exams are over, practice giving mock lessons. Work on your board writing skills, communication clarity, and ability to explain complex concepts simply
