SSC GD Constable 2026 Notification Out

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the SSC GD Constable 2026 Notification on December 1, 2025. This large recruitment drive plans to fill 25,487 vacancies in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). These forces include BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles.

The SSC GD Constable exam is one of the most famous exams in India for candidates who have passed 10th grade and wish to join the paramilitary forces. The online application window is open from December 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

Important Update on Admit Card Date: The official notice states that the Admit Cards (Admission Certificates) will not be sent by post. Instead, you can download them from the SSC Regional websites about 3 to 7 days before the exam date. Since the Computer-Based Examination (CBE) is scheduled for February – April 2026, you can expect the admit card process to start in late January or early February 2026.

About the Exam and Job Profile

This recruitment is for the post of Constable (General Duty). If you are selected, you will serve in forces that protect the internal security of our country.

  • Job Role: Your duties will include guarding borders, internal security, fighting against naxal operations, and keeping law and order.
  • Classification: This is a General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) post.
  • Pay Scale: The job offers a good salary under Pay Level-3 (₹21,700 – ₹69,100). You will also get various central government allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance.

 Exam Pattern & Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Examination (CBE)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST)
  4. Medical Examination (DME/RME) & Document Verification

Exam Pattern (CBE): The online exam will have 80 Objective Type questions. Each question carries 2 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. The total time for the exam is 60 Minutes.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who pass the CBE must clear the running limits:

  • Male : 5 Km in 24 minutes.
  • Female : 1.6 Km in 8 ½ minutes. (There are relaxations for candidates from the Ladakh region).

 Process to Download Admit Card

  1. Visit the official website of SSC (ssc.gov.in) or your region’s website (like sscnr.nic.in)
  2. Look for the link that says: “Download e-Admit Card for Constable (GD) Exam 2026”.
  3. Enter your Registration ID and Date of Birth.
  4. If you forget your ID, you can use your Roll Number or Name & Father’s Name.
  5. Click on ‘Search Status’ to see your City and Shift details.
  6. Download and print the Admit Card (make sure the photo is clear).

 Shift Timings & City Centres

The exam happens in multiple shifts every day to handle the large number of applicants. The exact time will be on your Admit Card, but here are the expected shift timings based on past trends:

Exam Centres: SSC holds the exam in major cities across all States and Union Territories. You must choose your preference for three centres (within the same region) when you apply. Common centres include Patna, Prayagraj, Kolkata, New Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai.

Important Documents for Exam Day

You must carry the following documents to the exam centre. 

  1. Printout of Admit Card.
  2. Two recent colour passport-size photographs.
  3. Original valid Photo-ID Proof that has your Date of Birth exactly as it is on the Admit Card.
    • Accepted IDs: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, or Employer ID.
    • Note: If the Photo ID does not have the Date of Birth, carry an extra original certificate (like your 10th Marksheet) as proof.

 Instructions for Candidates

  • Reach the centre at least 90 minutes before the exam time. Gates usually close 15-30 minutes before the exam starts.
  • Aadhaar-based biometric checks are done. Make sure your fingers are clean for fingerprint scanning.
  • Do not carry mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, or any paper material.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry or clothes with big buttons. Shoes with thick soles may be checked carefully.
  • Your face in the exam hall must match the photo you uploaded in the application form.
