1. Introduction
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts a Common Recruitment Process to fill vacant positions for Specialist Officers in various banks. This notification, CRP SPL-XV, is for the vacancies that are going to be filled for the year 2026-27.
Specialist Officers are bank employees who have special skills in areas like IT, Law, Agriculture, and Marketing. This is not a general banking job like a clerk or PO (Probationary Officer). For each post, you need a special degree.
There are three parts to this exam. Firstly, there is a Preliminary (first) exam. If you pass that, you give the Main (second) exam. After passing the Main, you must go for an Interview.

4. Eligibility Criteria
You must be eligible by 21.07.2025. This means your age and education must be correct on or before this date.
A. Nationality
You must be one of the following:
- A citizen of India
- A subject of Nepal
- A subject of Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962.
- A person of Indian origin who moved from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or some East African countries to permanently live in India.
B. Age Limit (as of 01.07.2025)
- Minimum (lowest) age: 20 years
- Maximum (highest) age: 30 years
This means you must be born after 01.07.1995 and before 02.07.2005.

Important Note for all posts (except IT Officer): You must have a certificate, diploma, or degree in computer operations/language, OR you should have studied Computers/IT as a subject in school or college.
5. Application Fee and Process
A. Application Fee
- For SC / ST / PwBD candidates: ₹ 175/-
- For all other candidates (General / OBC / EWS): ₹ 850/-
You must pay this fee online. The fee, once paid, will not be returned.
B. How to Apply
You can only apply online on the IBPS website (www.ibps.in) from 01.07.2025 to 21.07.2025.
- Go to the IBPS website and click the link “CLICK HERE TO APPLY ONLINE FOR CRP-SPECIALIST OFFICERS (CRP SPL-XV)”.
- Click on “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION”.
- Enter your basic details like name, mobile number, and email ID.
- A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be sent to your mobile and email.
- Log in and fill the application form with your personal, education, and other details.
- Upload these documents:
- Your photograph (size: 20kb-50kb)
- Your signature (size: 10kb-20kb)
- Your left thumb impression (size: 20kb-50kb)
- A hand-written declaration (size: 50kb-100kb)
- Your 10th standard (SSC/SSLC) certificate (PDF, size: up to 500kb)
- The text for the hand-written declaration is: “I, (Your Name), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.” (You must write this in English, in your own handwriting, on a white paper with a black pen. DO NOT write in capital letters.)
- Choose your bank preferences (which bank you want to join first, second, etc.).
- Pay the application fee online using a debit card, credit card, or internet banking.
- After payment, a confirmation e-receipt will be made.
- Print your final application form and the e-receipt.
6. Salary (Pay Scale)
The job is in Scale-I. The basic pay scale is: ₹ 48480 – 85920
This is the basic pay. You will also get other allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), etc. as per the bank’s rules. The total salary in hand will be higher than the basic pay.
7. Selection Process
The hiring process has three stages.
Stage 1: Online Preliminary Exam
This is the first exam. It is only for filtering candidates. The marks from this exam will not be added to your final result. You only need to pass this exam to give the Main exam.
Stage 2: Online Main Exam
This is the second and main exam; the final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in this exam.
- For most posts, this is an exam of your Professional Knowledge.
- There is an objective test with options and a descriptive test-typing of answers for the post of Rajbhasha Adhikari.
Stage 3: Interview
If you get high marks in the Main Exam, you will be called for an Interview.
- The interview is for 100 marks.
- You must get at least 40 marks to pass (35 marks for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD).
Final Result
Your final score will be made using marks from the Main Exam and the Interview.
- Weight of Main Exam: 80%
- Weight of Interview: 20%
8. Exam Pattern
Penalty for Wrong Answers: For every wrong answer in both Preliminary and Main exams, 0.25 (one-fourth) of the marks for that question will be cut. There is no penalty for leaving a question blank.

10. Preparation Tips
- Understand the exam pattern and syllabus very well.
- Your main exam is only Professional Knowledge. This section will decide your selection. Study your degree books thoroughly.
- Give as many online mock tests as you can. This helps in managing time and improving speed.
- After every mock test, check your mistakes. See why you made them and fix them.
- For the Prelims, English has 50 questions but only 25 marks. Do not ignore it, as you need to pass this section. Read newspapers to improve your reading and vocabulary.
- For General Awareness, read daily news, especially related to banking, finance, and new government schemes.
- In the exam, each section has its own time. You cannot switch sections. Practice finishing each section within the given time.
11. Admit Card
The admit card is called a “Call Letter” by IBPS.
- You will not get the call letter by post.
- You must download it from the official IBPS website (www.ibps.in) using your Registration Number and Password/Date of Birth.
- You will have to download separate call letters for the Preliminary Exam, the Main Exam, and the Interview.
- When you go for the exam, you must bring a printout of the call letter, one original photo ID proof (like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID), and a photocopy of the same ID proof.
- You must also bring one extra photograph (same as the one you uploaded in the form).
12. Result
- Results for each stage (Prelims, Mains) will be declared on the official IBPS website.
- The Final Result is declared after the interviews are over.
- A final list is made based on your Main Exam + Interview marks.
- If you are selected, you will be “provisionally allotted” to one of the 11 banks.
- The allotment is based on your rank in the final list and the bank preferences you filled in the application form.
- After allotment, the bank (not IBPS) will contact you for joining, medical tests, and document verification.
